It's is 3rd place in terms of units sold.
Jack & Daxter, and now Rachet & Clank illustrates that Sony ps2 is just as good at cartoon platform exploration as the Ninty Cube. Infact I have seen a few reports that put the Sony offering ahead of Nintendo.
The lack of a DVD movie player is a mistake for Ninty. The cube might be a bit cheaper, but most people will pay that bit extra to get a console that also plays dvd's. Ahh, some you already have a standalone dvd player in the house. True, but many games consoles are not connected to the main tv - they are used in a bedroom or ther room. PS2 and XBox provides these people with a handy 2nd dvd player in a different location. Both XBox and PS2 also use DVD for games which means the games can be much bigger compared with games on the GC.
Price fixing. Even though this only remarks on the last gen consoles, fact is it made it into the main news. This is not good, and is worse for Ninty since they have always pushed the idea that they are more fair, and are not like Sony or anyone else.
Ninty got the price wrong at launch. Nintendo have made a mistake in introducing the Cube at such a low price. Now that there have been price cuts for PS2 and XBox, people are looking to Ninty for a similar cut. But it wont happen until next year. With it's low price, Ninty need to shift lots of Cubes - which it is failing to do.
Uncertain future. While details for PS3 and XBox2 are not firm - and will change again before launch, at least we know that there will be a PS3 and XBox2. Ninty are much more uncertain. One day they say that this GameCube will be the last Ninty console. The next day they claim to be working on GameCube2, but then say that will be the last one. The only thing we can say for certain is that, whatever the market format is at that time, Ninty won't use it.

It is all so petty. Microsoft have monopolised the market with windows etc... they control the majority of it by shutting down other companies and stealing their ideas... one problem arose... Sony.
Sony's Playstation 2 has a system called Linux, people were using Sony's PS2 for bussiness work as opposed to PC's and Microsoft's windows. Microsoft needed to compete with the PS2 and so created a games console of their own.
Still not a monopolosing company?
anyway i can't be arsed to take the pi*s more cos well, its rubbish. Obviously better than some but really done by an anti nintendo person.
I dont have any issue with the quality of the ps2 dvd movie player. It works well, and quality wise it's easily the same as a average standalone dvd player. With a newer, more expensive dvd player, you can get slightly better results. But as always, slight improvement is the problem. Just compared it to a new Sony DVD player with SACD mode, and all the bits, and image wise, its only about 10% better than the PS2. We are reaching the limitations of dvd and standard def tv's at this point. Only moving to a higher res system will offer a "proper" upgrade from now on.
Control ports. Yes I would like a ps2 with 4 ports like the GC - but there's more to it than that. You can put 2 multitaps on a ps2 making 8 controllers. GC doesnt have this, it is limited to 4. Same goes for XBox (i think). Expansion ports also play a part. PS2 is the best for this since it has 2 USB, and a FireWire - both standard spec.
XBox hard disc IS a good idea. But, it seems to me that a number of games dont use it or dont use very well. Project Gotham is no faster at reloading a level than GT3 on PS2.
PS2 memory card issue. You dont need one with XBox - but you do if you want to take a saved game to another XBox. There also looks to be some capacity difference between GC and PS2 cards (ps2 cards holding more), so they would cost more anyway. But at the end of the day, £27 is still too expensive for a ps2 card.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

LOL! I don't actually think it rules, like the other 2, and it has no games that I particularly adore, but I find it hard to find dislike...in a console?
I save that for people, and Windows :D

Eugh?!

*SNIPER RIFLE OUT!*
:D
Eg IE6 allows you to repair or remove, but dagnabbit remove just takes you to IE5..then IE4...
And today I realised my true hate for all things Microsoft. I like the Xbox, but Windows and MS DOS are evil...
EVILLLL!
*cough*
Try intalling Win98 and restoring a damaged registry...5 hours of screaming abuse at a computer...argh!
