ive wanted on of these for ages but cant really afford it, bu if this was released outside of japan then it would be the number 1 console no questions, its the most beautiful peice on hardware ever! and it plays dvds of all regions, and uk/japan/usa games,

Just because a console has more "PC" hardware, or other things like DVD and Online, doesn't mean we are about to see consoles running QuarkXpress or PhotoShop on our tv's any time soon. You can have similar hardware, but tune + program it for different requirements.

ANd it plays GC games, you forgot that

Basically, the Panasonic Q DVD player is the best quality DVD player I have ever used or seen. Its fantastic - as well as looking supremely fantastic and probably the nicest bit of kit I own bar my G4 laptop.

These are the reasons I brought it:

-Playback of DVD movies (region 1-6)
-Plays RCE movies like The Patriot
-Plays Music CDs and Video CDs (VCD)
-Japanese/English on screen menue.
-Now also with Macrovision off

If you want to ever import any kind of gadget or hardware. Get this beauty!

So your argument is merely that PCs weren't originally designed specifically for handling games.

Cocktail sticks weren't originally designed to go in coktails either, doesn't mean they don't do a great job there though. Indeed, nothing does the job better.

Take away PCs, you don't have consoles. Simple. PCs can handle games better than consoles. Simple. PCs handle cutting edge software, consoles can't.

Simple.
