Or as it is otherwise known - The MLB Thread

So Yankees, as always busy around deadline day and were quite successful. Abreu and Lidle for a bunch of minor league prospects of which only Smith looks half decent. Don't know too much about Lidle to be honest but Abreu will give another strong bat and some experienced coverage for Sheffield while he's out injured (and more than likely replace him for next season) Also picked up Craig Wilson for Chacon to give us another strong bat. Had him in my MVP Baseball 2005 team as well actually. Might mean Andy Phillips doesn't get as much time as he should though which is a shame.

Red Sox and Jays did nothing and we kept hold of Cano, Melky and Phillips so a good trade deadline time all around for the Yanks

Heh, I'm assuming it's Boston then? :)

Anyway, the Yankees take on Boston at Fenway next weekend. If Clemens starts against Toronto, I think he'll miss the Boston series or he might start game 3 maybe. Game 3 would be live on Sunday night I believe.

Yup, on paper before the season they had one of the best rotations in the league. Wang was awesome last year and is getting back to that standard, Moose is Moose, Pettitte was one of the best pitchers in the NL and had renewed motivation coming to New York and Igawa was the strikeout king of Japan and only had a 0.20 higher ERA than Matsuzaka.

I don't mind criticism of the Yanks if it's deserved but when it's stupid negativity for the sake of it is when it begins to get annoying. As for us being the Evil Empire, as they like to keep referring to us, we're not the ones with the highest payroll of any World Series winner in history, Josh might want to look into who is

There's always been an element of Yankee hate. It has been worse this time around, especially at the start of the season when they said that they didn't like the Yankees this season because of their pitching. I thought the starters were one of the best rotations in the majors. It's just injuries that has hurt them at the start.

It is beginning to detract from the program and starting to get on my nerves, i can't say i noticed it as much in previous years so not sure why they are starting it now.

I think he is under pressure to praise the Red Sox because of Josh's love for them. Plus, a lot of people hate the Yankees (probably jealous of their success).

What a great pick up he was ......

What was Johnny Gould babbling on about last night, we didn't prevent the sweep we actually won the series if he bothered to ditch his Anti-Yankee bias and paid attention.

Good game bar a few errors and Giambi still sucking with the bat. Was funny in the 8th to see that guy take a facedive in the stands when trying to catch the Ortiz foul.

That's Pavano's Yankee career finished. Tommy John surgery and a recovery time of 12-18 months which will mean his contract will be up.

Yeah, I watched the game. Wakefield just didn't have the control and although Wang struggled, he managed to get out of a few jams.

Saw the negative (well positive from my viewpoint :-D) side of the knuckleball from Wakefield last night giving up a stack of walks as the Yanks win the first game of the Boston series. A-Rod seems to be heating his bat up again with 3 homers in 3 days.

The little surprise jump was the best bit when he spotted the kitten.

Soon, Shea will be a pile of rubble...
