G G G Gareth releases his 1st song,they played it on Capital this morning (I couldn't get Xfm for about 5 minutes)

And this latest addition to the Dancing Bear Clan, Mr Pop Idol finalist Gareth Somethingorother has his song out.
And what is it?

"Unchained Melody"
Yup, a cover of a sacharinne sweet song that's already been a hit so you know it'll sell again to old people and retards.
So we have a pre-packaged pop robot (but he's so sweet! He overcame his stutter!) singing a gauranteed-hit.

*shakes head*

We are not living in the real world anymore folks, we are living in a pre-sold, pre-fab consumer-planet that has no desire for originality or daring.
It's yet another example of you being treated like a mindless baby, unable to form their own opinions about things.
And you'll all swallow this mush and ask for more.

What kind of parental role model would buy this pap?

Why would removing their method of procreation affect their ability to go out and buy a single?

And those are the same people that actually voted for Big Brother, watch Barrymore shows and like Soap Operas.

It's the truth, and someone has to say it.

Yeah, but so what - if they like him and they buy his stuff and he gets to be really successful - what's wrong with that? I doubt people buy his stuff because of his record company...most people who buy his single will buy it because they like him.

You'd be surprised how many middle aged women buy singles if its the right single mate, trust me.

Just a couple of points -

Old people don't buy singles, so they won't be supporting anyone.

Most middle-aged people that like the singer will wait for the album, not buy the single.

No teenage boys will buy anything he does, because of the 'principle'.

Whilst I disagress with the whole 'Pop Idol' mentality, I have yet to see anyone point out the fact that both Gareth and Will had good voices - they are singers, not singer/songwriters, and therefore should be judged as such. After seeing a musical in which you enjoyed an actor/actress's singing, you don't say "Yeah, but it was sooooo commercial." Do you?

What struck me was how bad a version of Unchained Melody it actually was! All credit to the little twerp, he can sing a bit, but all the high notes are way off and the whole thing sounds terrible. He should have done 2 Unlimited, No Limits.

Imagine Westworld, but with popstars instead of cowboys. I'd go on holiday there...with my AK47!

I pray for the day that one of these droids is at a Smash Hits Award thing and blows a head gasket like Brynner in Westworld and goes on a murderdeathkill rampage.
