At least it would be if the makers, Future Publishing, didnt live in an alternative universe to the rest of us. Why ? "Try Before You Buy" claims the magazine about its Game demos. Problem - I doubt any of us will buy this then dash home to try out the demo's on our non existent Xboxes. Second problem - many of us have already worn out the local demo pods and know pretty well what we're going to buy anyway.
Still, at least we've got an official mag with demos, which wil be better once the consoles actually out !

Obviously playable Demos are great, but

For £5.99 I would only buy the mag once they started to put on extras for games. The American version of the mag will be having the DOA3 update on the disc, but we already get it in the game.
But from this months playable demos they do seem to offer more than the PS2 demos. But I dont really care about all the playable demos, I only want to play on some, if I am in any doubt about buying a game.
I get PSW as it offers about 80 mins of footage of upcoming games. I rarely buy the offical magazine as its videos are old, aswell as alot of the demos repeat themselves.

I think your thinking of PSW. They had a DVD, like they do every month but the Offical PS2 mag came with a game disc, I bought the first issue and then the next issue I bought was the Feb 2002 issue as that had a MGS2 demo on it.
The Offical X-Box mag seems good, the reviews are very good for Halo, Rally sport, PGR, DOA3 and Amped. Also the demo disc seems good. As PGR has 4 levels with 2 unlockable cars, one being the F50 which takes along time to earn in the full game(about 20+ hours of in game time).
I am going to get next months mag as it should have a Wreckless playable demo.
Anyway the X-box demo disc can be used in your DVD player. But you only get the small intro movie and then it comes up with "Please insert the disc into an X-box".
