How long do people think the N64 has left to live?
With games like Perfect Dark, Zelda: The Continuing Sage, Turok 3, A Resident Evil game, Top Gear Rally 2, and a bunch of other wicked games this year. How long will the N64 live for? Specially with the PS2 and Dolphin on the horizon how much longer can the N64 last?
Cooky
It's looks ugly, yes but it looks pretty good as well, the controllers look dodgy, yes but they are only a prototype.
Wake up and watch the demos and you'll find a good machine.
Not a machine that can play DVD's. Like the Rock says't doesn't matter. We want a machine made for games not DVD's.
It's like F1 cars they look very shabby but they go at mighty speeds.
Nintendo has Mario,Zelda, StarFox, Metroid and the ISS series to thank for a good success on their machines.
Sony has Final Fantasy, Tekken and Metal Gear Solid. The gamecube is a aimed at gamers not people looking for a cheap DVD player.
At not even the PSX2 looks very good as well. Nintendo is aiming for a top games machine with all the old favourites to make it a good all round console. And at 200 quid you can't miss out.
Who wouldn't want to miss out on a movie like Zelda or a Starfox.
It may not be so powerful but it's got the games in it.
Please Seek Sanity? (I know thats two s's, but you think of a better one.)
I, personally, am not actually bothered about the childish nature of most N64 games, because I believe that gameplay counts most of all when playing a game. I am bothered, however, by the select few N64 fans who share the same the simplistic ideology as the Official Nintendo Magazine, in that just because something is good, all similar products are therefore bad.
The problem with the Nintendo 64 is that Nintendo are the only company with enough money and skill to do much with the N64 - which is why most good games on the N64 are made or published by Nintendo, and why the N64 controller is far more ergonomic, as you rightly point out, than the PlayStation one. However, Nintendo have always been a family-friendly company, because whereas anyone can buy a game with no age rating, having a game with an age rating will wipe out most of Nintendo's target audience - children. This is why I make my point that most good games are childish ones, but as I said, this doesn't bother me at all.
Of course you don't....that is why Nintendo have succesfully created the Dolphin. It has a different sized disc so that it will be hard to copy. Also Sony have kept the same controller as lats time. What IS THE POINT? IT IS RUBBISH. The new gamecube controller, however looks cool.
