Here a question.

How long do people think the N64 has left to live?

With games like Perfect Dark, Zelda: The Continuing Sage, Turok 3, A Resident Evil game, Top Gear Rally 2, and a bunch of other wicked games this year. How long will the N64 live for? Specially with the PS2 and Dolphin on the horizon how much longer can the N64 last?

Sleeper's wrong. The NES came out before the Sega Master System. The Master System was superior in every way technically, but Nintendo had exclusivity contracts with many major developers, so nobody made games for the Master System. If that wasn't the case Nintendo might not be around today.

As I started this posting, and got quite a responce, I thought I'd post to it again.

I'd like to set the record straight: If you'd read my posting you'd realise that I'm a playstation owner as well as a N64. And yes, I even own MGS and have sampled the...errr, delights is the wrong word...of Gran Turismo. While MGS is a good game, Gran Turismo is not. Its boring, repetetive and laclustre. And both these games aren't as good as say Perfect Dark, Goldeneye, Mario 64 etc. Sony has got this far on hype alone, and the mainstream Playstation headcase is only in it because the stupid fools have been taken in by spin campaigns and clever advertising. You PS harcore really have been sucked in BIG TIME!!!

Nintendo games are better. As the old saying goes: "Its quality, not quantity that matters!"

As far as Driving games for the N64, I thought that San Francisco Rush (the orginal) was pretty good, with alternative routes and wild racing. Destruction Derby 64 is good fun, especially with four players, cars just end up everywhere and the tracks are well thought out. Vrally is really difficult and the handling doesn't feel right, so I'd leave that. Ridge Racer 64 is really nice if you fancy something more down to earth on the racing stakes, but I can't think of anything like Gran Turismo.

Speedsters? What's that? If your asking for different racing games there are Ridge Racer 64, World Driver Championship and there's one really good futuristic one called Rush 2049 that's meant to be pretty good.

None of my N64 playing friends have any racing games apart from Mario Karts and F1 World Grand Prix. I was wondering if there are any games on N64 that resemble Gran Turismo. That doesn't include F1 or rally driving games, or cartoonie kart games like Mario Karts or Crash Team Racing. The only one I can think of is Speedsters, which is meant to be cr*p on both N64 and PSX. And I also mean decent ones, not Need For Speed or whatever. I'm not insulting the N64, I just want to know how many there are, as I can't seem to find anything.
Thanks for reading, Ant.

No offence, but earlier in this discussion I did fill up a message with a load of good PSX games, I think it's just 'cos MGS and GT sre the best, like N64's PDark and Goldeneye.

Why do people put down the DC. I dont have one personly but my mate has. I tell you i wish i had one. So they may be a little noisy, but they are the first 128 bit console and i think it rocks. The games are mega. Tony hawk, toy commander, hidden and dangerous, Half life, Quake 3 crazy taxi. why people dont like this wonder console is way beyond me. People who dont like this console obviously hasnt had a go on one. Also the latest offer of a DC and DVD player from special reserve should give competition to sony and its PS2. maybe it will give sega the recognition and reputation it deserves!

I wouldn't emulate N64 games.
It wouldn't be the same with out the right controller and the multiplayer would be completely wasted but I suppose it would work and the games (being small in memory) wouldn't take too long to download.
I still wouldn't do it though.

Rather small discs mind... But thats not a problem, it speeds up loading times and they have all the space they'll need. If they need more, they can have two discs.
