How long do people think the N64 has left to live?
With games like Perfect Dark, Zelda: The Continuing Sage, Turok 3, A Resident Evil game, Top Gear Rally 2, and a bunch of other wicked games this year. How long will the N64 live for? Specially with the PS2 and Dolphin on the horizon how much longer can the N64 last?
Cooky
Perfect Dark's a Goldeneye rip off with the same levels, did Goldenye have a AREA 51 level and a datadyne level, it only had 2 multiplayer levels from Goldeneye.
Just because sony can't bring out any decent games like Zelda, PD, Goldeneye, Mario and others. They only have those Final Fantasy sequels. Don't take me wrong it looks good, but it's the same old love stories and boring, long powering up everytime.
If you're over 15 years old and haven't already bought this game then there's no better time.
The single player won't last too long but invite some friends over to have brilliant multiplayer fun!
A nintendo Teken game wouldn't go amis though.
Perhaps Namco will treat us on the GameCube...
What he doesn't seem to realise that the fact that Sony themselves can't make games, any half decent PS2 games WILL appear on the gamecube as well (resident evil, metal gear solid, final fantasy,... THE LOT) AND there will be a host of games from Nintendo and Rare (and if we're lucky - the Sonic Team) that Sony can only dream of.
By the way, I saw a bigger difference between Goldeneye and Perfect Dark than Crash 1, 2 and 3, Resident Evil 1,2,and Nemesis let alone the endless Fifa clones released every 6 months. Need I say more?
I've played MGS and it's great, cinematic but it doesn't have the qualities that made Goldeneye so brilliant.
MGS has lots of it's own qualities like tactics and stealth but mostly relied on it's cinematic cut sequences to keep things interestic (and suceeded too).
Goldeneye didn't need cut sequences to make it good. It didn't need the story line. Thats the quality that the topic is all about.
Goldeneye has a special charm (a charm that Perfect Dark unfortunately lacked) which gives it, like many Nintendo/Rare games, a certain quality that Playstation games lack.
And it's spelled G-E-N-E-R-A-L-L-Y.
So overall, I feel you were being a little biased.
Thanks for reading, Ant.
To that my answer is simply that the Gamecube is only susposed to be a games machine, not a entertainment ststem as Sony calls the PS2, or a mini-PC like the xbox.
Also about on the games' side, Nintendo completely dominantes the first party industry. When games like Mario 64 and Mario Party cane out They all got the highest ranking and remained in the top-ten for weeks.
As for lack of third-party support gamecube has already got more developers than they had for the N64, which shows that the tird-prty are showing interset.
Zero
(No offence Ant, I know you don't want to be insulted)
