How long do people think the N64 has left to live?
With games like Perfect Dark, Zelda: The Continuing Sage, Turok 3, A Resident Evil game, Top Gear Rally 2, and a bunch of other wicked games this year. How long will the N64 live for? Specially with the PS2 and Dolphin on the horizon how much longer can the N64 last?

F-Zero is not a lot like other high speed racers like Extreme-G or Wipeout 64 - it's better. The control is somewhat sluggish in Extreme-G and once you got up to high speeds going around corners is nuts and very hard to control without hitting walls or other objects. However, if you're looking for a high speed racer with weapons and all that, you won't find it here. What Nintendo has done is create an awesome racer with 30 (yep that's thirty) individual racing machines with different qualities and characteristics that race against you. The racers are all in full 3D and the level designs are fun and you won't find too much repition. I think that's a lot better than shooting green laser crap at a few enemy cars racing by you. If you still can't get enough of killing your opponent, you can destroy an enemy racer by using your shields and spin attacking them. This brings down their power a lot and is very effective in the harder difficulty modes.
There a different modes and options to play in the game, like the classic Grand Prix, VS mode, practice mode, time trials and even a death race, where the object is to kill every opponent by destroying them or pushing them off the sides in the fastest time. There are 3 difficulty modes like in the SNES version along with some of the same cups, plus new ones. The difficulty modes add much more life to the game, and the expert mode is challenging. If you think you're an expert on novice, try your luck at a different difficulty level and you'll have a tougher time. There are two secret cups to compete in and the tracks in them are lots of fun. Back to the actual racers themselves - the cars. There are 30 of them, each different with different drivers. The 4 drivers from the original are back in this, and every time you beat a certain amount of cups more cars are enabled for you to use.
The graphics are great, but the actual gameplay comes before them in this game. They are simple and add to the smoothness of the game, but contain hardly any detail. The only complaint would be the fog on the horizon while your driving, but you probably won't notice this while you're concentrating on the race. The framerates are excellent and they run steady throughout the game, even the the 4 player races.
The control is unmatched in any high speed racing game. Once you've played the game for a while you can take almost any corner perfectly by using the Z and R buttons to turn. Using the analog stick to control your vehicle is very smooth and the overall control is excellent.
The multiplayer mode is lots of fun when playing with your friends. The tracks almost never get boring and if you only have 2 player games, you can throw in 2 extra computer opponents to play with.
Overall this game puts gameplay way ahead of graphics and sound and if that's what you're looking for then this game is for you.
While the greystation is still trying to persuede us that meatal gear solid is a fraction as good as goldeneye, and that crash team racing is not a copy of Mario kart.As for the big grey breick that they call the Dreamcast well that can go play one of its pathetic selection of games.
I also have brought nothing for any other formatt since I have got my N64 as it has everything,
It has good rumble effects unlike the anolog controlers on the playstation.
I know someone that has a Playstatiion steering wheel that only takes the N64 rumble Packs as the playstation Do not have one.
Nothing in the world could change my mind so that I wanted a greystation instead of a n64.
Maybye it's to give them time to perfect their games but Sony have gone ahead and launced their Playstation 2 with only a few average games and the Japaneese are lapping them up.
I realise that Nintendo have always prided themselves on making great games and I'm not saying that I want more sub-standard ones but they have to realise that the customers in Europe won't wait forever for a good game and if they really want to win the next-generation console war then they will have to revise their strategy and give the customers what they want, when they want it, rather than giving the customers what Nintendo think they want, whenever Nintendo decide to give it to them.
What makes him a janitor? Good question. He doesn't do many janitorial things, though I bet you can use his head to clean your toilet bowl. I can unabashedly say that Ed is the most pathetic video game character ever created. Ed is the gimp king of video game Hell.
His story is equally inane. While going about his piddling little duties, Ed moronically spills a secret formula down the gutter. Through some kind of cosmic wormhole, the gutter empties out onto Planet Earth. And like all mysterious liquid goops, from Daredevil to the Ninja Turtles, radioactive craziness will surely ensue. Hence the title, Tonic Trouble. Gaze in awe at the brilliance.
As it happens, said tonic wreaks havoc, causing Earth to develop checkerboard patterns, vegetables to sprout faces, and for some reason, a Viking to develop ambitions of world conquest. Inexplicably, Ed is the one sent in to save the day.
Moving Ed is a lesson in sub-standard control. Move the control stick, and Ed moves... eventually. That slight delay, the feeling that the controls haven't been tested or refined hammers another nail into this coffin. Attempts are made to extend playability by offering new moves as you progress. These gimmicky moves are so hackneyed and their usage so obviously spelled out, that if you even made it that far, you would just continue to shake your head in sad, sad pity.
The game boasts of a 3D world to explore. In truth, you spend most of the time wandering around with a fixed camera. It boils down to making jump after jump from irritating camera angles - nothing more than an awkward side-scroller from the days of old. The spark of creativity that this game could possibly once have held is completely quashed by the platform-to-platform redundancy.
Ed is supported by some characters as irregular as he is. One of them is a badly animated Professor who demands that you find all sorts of parts for him. When Ed eats a piece of the Professor's magical popcorn, he becomes transformed into Super Ed. Now instead of a dumb looking little purple guy, we get a dumb looking bigger purple guy that has a lame smack attack. Watch the colliding polygons as he literally walks into other objects.
Tonic Trouble has been brought to you in stunning Blur-O-Vision. This game could have been a great chance to create Dali-esque landscapes of hallucinogenic art, but instead we are plagued by a halfhearted effort where a jumbled mish-mash of color and form is the flavor of the day. The game employs the familiar Z-trigger camera-repositioning tool, but each time you use it, it starts from several seconds to the left, moving in to slowly center on Ed. It's discomforting and unnatural. Add in the staccato nature of the movement and it all equates to a vomitory experience.
Listen to the annoying sound effects done up in pseudo-cartoon fashion. I already couldn't stand Ed from the get-go, and now he's making noises at me. Is he trying to be funny or cute? I don't understand how this thing can have any appeal whatsoever.
There isn't anything here besides mundane platform-to-platform jumping hell. The game is plodding and slow, irredeemably boring...best defined as a craptacular disaster (craptacular isn't a word - Ed....er...wait, I mean Editor). Ed, cherish your award - it's the only one you'll get. 'Nuff said.
For instance Crash Bandicoot Racing is the biggest rip-off of mario kart that I have ever seen, the whole idea and style of the game is nearly exactly the same, the graphic style the sound and the options are the same but sony just do not have the gameplay that Nintendo have, they might have done a few things better but tthe game play just can not compair with Mario Kart.
They Probarly did not copy Goldeneye because their rubbish excuse for a console couldn't take it, instead they had to make meadal of honar.
This game doesn't even have 20 guns while goldeneye has nearly 50.
Sony have tryed to rip_off so many of Nintendos games and not one of them have turned out for the better.
But thereare some games sony know that they can not copy, for example
Goldeneye Perfect dark, rouge squadron and star wars racer.
But the only thing about the Nintendo makers is that they make much to many childlike games like mario and supermaan, yoshis story, and buck bumble.
Why when they could be doing something like producing a seuel to Rouge Squadron or Beele adventure racing 2.
But I do not know what you are saying when you quote that the playstatyion 2 are nothing of a threat to them because tons more people have playstations than N64's ( I do have an N64 and i back then all the way.)
we all know that Nintendo are in a battle with the greystation.right???? well people are saying that when the Greystation 2 comes out along with the Dolphin, that the N64 is gonna be wiped out.

Nintendo are 1 of the best games developers around and competiton from the PSX2 is nothin to fret about at all.
Get rid of there cute'n'cuddley image and they are well on the way to regaining there spot as No.1 games developer that they so rightly deserve.
I'll finish off by saying,hay ho to the Ninny and the Dolphin
and the Greystation makers can go drown themselves.
