''The speed prediction we have provided is an estimate, however download speeds can vary and the actual download speed will fall between a range. This is generally within 1-2 Mb higher or lower than your estimated speed quoted.
Between 10.0Mb and 19.5Mb
(Estimated speed: 17.0Mb) ''
Mine is currently around 5.5-6.5 Mbs
I am connected to this exchange.
Are these estimated figures wide of the mark? If not will I be able to access these proposed speeds on the 2 Freeola connections I have on this exchange anytime soon?
Thanks.
And for how long have both your connections been down?
Do the two correlate?
Cheers for that Hmmm.
Don't know what might have caused this?
I think it might be the Olympics! :¬)
Check your 21CN Node Status here - it's cooled off now, but I think too many people were trying to stream Tom Daley in the diving!
My 20CN Faraday node couldn't cope but things are fine now the usage has gone down.
[s]Hmmm...[/s]
Download speedachieved during the test was - 3.72 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 4 Mbps-21 Mbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 10.16 Mbps
Don't know what might have caused this?
My connection actually seems a bit faster today and I notice that my IP profile seems to be raising (now reading 9.81 Mbs). Does this increase automatically as the new connection settles down then? I'll leave it a week or so and see how it is before bothering you guys unnecessarily. If I can get something around the speed of my current IP profile I'll be happy.
If your speeds are not as expected, I would advise running a BT speed test from http://speedtester.bt.com and raising a support ticket with the results. This should give us a much better picture of what's going on.
The main statistics that this test feeds back are:
Downstream rate: The maximum rate negotiated between your router and the exchange.
IP Profile: An additional system in place that can limit your connection speed if your line becomes unstable. This can in turn allow you to still access the Internet (be it at a slower rate) when there a problem with line stability.
Throughput: The download rate achieved.
As your previous ADSL connection was so good I would be expecting more on ADSL2+.
To be able to judge what the line(s) is capable of we need to see the attenuation, SNR and current sync(connection) speeds.
[s]Hmmm...[/s]
Current BT Speedtester results:
''Download speedachieved during the test was - 7.79 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 4 Mbps-21 Mbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 8.6 Mbps''
I'm getting similar results on both of my connections (both changed over this week, same exchange). Are these acceptable results or should I be getting faster speeds than this? I notice my IP profile is currently being shown as 8.6 Mbs, don't if this may increase over time?
I'm not complaining BTW, connection is still pretty good for my needs.
All's well. Router seems very happy and general connection has been reliable ... online gaming has yet to be tested but should manage that this evening (except I've just heard a roll of thunder ... maybe I shouldn't have said that!!) :¬(
One thing that has been obvious, is that the LAN port light on the router now shows red when the PC is switched off. This always showed green before!
