Then ask yourself how many Xbox and GC titles you see for these sort of prices Sony make gaming affordable hell they even have Platinium games that are £20 or 2 of £30 in a lot of places.

Dame right you're a maddmun with comments like these.
Firstly a GC and a dvd player of the quality you are suggesting would cost you well over £200.
Secondly what is this rubbish about the the PS2 dvd quality have you actually ever bothered to try it, I think you will find the dvd playback is fine and certainly not shoddy infact with my dvd remote I have functions that some cheaper end dvd's do not.
Thirdly why should you have to pay more for the use of dvd on the Xbox you don't with the PS2. That is just a con MS trying to make money from nothing again.
Then there is the PS2 price with 4 games £360 where did you pluck that price from, if you did pay this for one then you're the sap. £199 will easily buy you a PS2 with 4 games and there is no need for a dvd kit either it plays them out of the box.
GC plus DVD player of the same quality as the PS2's = £150.
So since the GC is £130, you can get a standalone DVD player for connecting to your tv for £20. Don't think so.
As for quality, I had a Pioneer 515 Silver international R1/R2 drive which cost a lot of money! The difference between that and my PS2 DVD was "slight". You no what I replaced my Pioneer with? A Sony 900 DVD/SACD drive with on board dolby digital decoder & Precision drive laser. But even that is only about 15% better, and most of that is just the difference between the colour saturation and a bit of contrast.
Top Score be off with you annoying little child.

Xbox + 4 games + DVD kit = £230
GC plus DVD player of the same quality as the PS2's = £150,
GC(along with PS2 quality DVD player) + 4 games + Memory Card = £320
PS2 + 4 games + Memory Card = £360
Hmmm, X-Box is the best deal, after the GC, the PS2 has a shoddy DVD player by the way.
And don't go, AH YOUR JUST JEALOUS!!! Because I own both a GC and PS2 and shelled out on a DVD player because the PS2's was so shockingly bed.

I thought the Xbox and PS2 had Dolby Digital 5.1. Unless you go "mega money" for Dolby Digital EX - but you dont get that on a console! GameCube only offers analogue Dolby Pro-Logic 2 surround sound.
As for "value for money", I know some 1 who wants there first DVD player and a next gen console. GameCube + £60 DVD player = £190. PS2 (with built in DVD) = £169. The Xbox can also do this, but only if you have the DVD kit.
XBox does have a hard disc built in. It is a good idea. But I some times take saved games to other locations using my PS2 memory card. You still need an Xbox memory card if you want to do the same thing.
As for Broadband, that only works if your area is wired up to broadband. Then you have to pay a monthly fee for your broadband line. Then there is the Game charges which will be needed in order to use Xbox, PS2, and GC online. Looks like Microsoft will require us to use a credit card for payment as well (in the States, a Debit card or other form is no good – it must be a credit card) – so that’s the youngsters out then!
Ha.
Also, Xbox plus 4 games - £200. Xbox console £159.99. That makes four games for £40, £10 each.
Ha.
Gamecube is cheaper as a console, memory cards are also cheaper. Some games can be bought quite cheaply, I know as I've seen them but as I've not got a GC, I didn't remember where.
Ha.
PS2, most expensive console although it is actually the oldest. £25 for a memory card. No games £169.99, that means £194.99 with memory card. That leaves you £5 to try and get four games - I'd like to see you try to do that.
I think we should ban all topics that say any console is better than another, or PCs are better etc. just because they cause to much hassle.
