Today we found out that what seems like 3/4's of all topics on Fog Prime have been deleted. This includes the stories, part of the legacy of these forums. It doesn't include the World's Longest Thread.

I've always been secretly dismayed at the seemingly small amount of attention laid on the stories by Special Reserve. I understand that this was indeed an accident, but it doesn't just stop there. While the World's Longest Thread is recognised as a part of Fog History, with a small section written about it on the front page, the stories have always gone with what seems like little support or attention from yourselves. While people are told they can spam freely in the Longest Thread, there is no warning, after so much obvious trouble we have with it, that people should not disturb the stories.

I don't feel I'm going over the top here. If you needed space, why not delete half of Fog Chat? Topics envolving what someone did last night, or how irritating it is to walk into a door. It's... beyond me, how you can put these topics above those that have been written through mind and heart, that the writers on these forums have real emotions towards. Yes, not just the stories, you've gone and deleted a few years of our gaming and writing history.

And personally, the stories mean a lot to me, considering that's what was keeping me alive at one point. The thought of you simply deleting our hard work is disgusting, in the least. I've just spent nearly a year animating the first one. This also has had little attention put on it, which I felt perhaps you would have been interested in also.

I plead to you, surely there are backups of what has been deleted? Is it at all possible that these lost topics can be restored?

If anyone feels they need to add to what I've written, please do so. I'm angry. Sorry.

You mean, that YOU will never look at again. How the hell do you think I found out they'd gone in the first place? I was looking for a particular old topic I wanted to pop to thr front.

Christ, what's the point Rav? Do I really have to rewrite why the topics on here are so important to me, considering it's now been deleted?

Ok, I'll put it in note form:

1) I find cancer lump.

2) Go mad.

3) Write on forums.

4) Lock myself in toliets with knife to wrist.

5) Stop myself from committing suicide because I enjoy writing too much, which was the only thing stopping me.

6) Slowly recover. After half a year of diagnosis get the all clear.

7) Tell everyone on forums the above, bar you, it seems.

8) It gets deleted.

These topics were the online equivalent.

Oh come on! How can you compare a photo album (shich is a timless rememinder of your past, and all the good times), with an online "post" that you will NEVER look at again.

I bet that if SR kept the same number of posts in the forums room, but deleted the topics, no one would notice because no one looks at them!

SonicRav, have you ever browsed through a photo album of a holiday, or the times when you were a kid?

These topics were the online equivalent.

Nostalgia, essentially.

Why do old buildings get a government protection order?
Why do you keep that old toy you were given when you were four?
Why don't we just chuck away archeological finds, as they're old and fragile and generally useless?

Look, how many of you actually go back and check posts that haven't been replied to for, say, 9 months?

I've posted as much as you, but I have to say that I'm really not bothered about all my lold posts being deleted. It would have been nice if they'd asked us first, and maybe let people pop any topics that they really wanted to keep, but what use are these topics? They slow down everything, use space, and not much else.

No one has yet given me a convincing reason that these topics whould be kept except that people hav put work into them. Ok, people put work into them. They got replies. They got a debate going and enlightened us. What can they do for us now?

Well, yeah, since the stories did stop me from committing suicide, which I have told you about, it does actually mean something to me. Sorry to be brash again, but you're not on MSN.
