Lately when i have been playing some of my new games on my pc, i have noticed that the graphics seem a bit smudged , and not very sharp. Also that with the more sophisticated games i have noticed more glitches and some places in a level , especially outside that the detail gets very messed up and sometimes there are bits of the backround missing.
So if i bought a graphics card for my computer would it help these problems and make the game look sharper etc ? Also if it is a graphics card i need is there any ones that you could recommend to me as a first time buyer?
Last thing is are they hard to fit , and is it best to let a special reserve technichan fit it for me.
Will be greatful for any advice on this topic, or some answers to my questions.
Dave :)

After looking inside my pc this morning i discovered that i have no AGP slots, just 3 PCI slots , and one smaller one that the modem is fitted into. So it looks like i can't fit a new graphics card. Can i somehow add a AGP slot, or would i need to buy a new motherboard.
Also are the graphics cards which are fitted into the PCI slots any good ?

K thanks have cleared things up for me. Will get the Spakle mx400 one for £80. As you say its easy to install, i'll try to do it my self, and if i need to disable my older one, i'll get someone to do it for me. I know someone who has done that before and they said they'll do it if i cant.
Cheers :)

Bah.. my box is strangely broken with regard to pushing any DirectX/OpenGL data down the AGP bus, both with my Voodoo3 and Ruari's KyroII in both WinXP and Linux. Strangeness.

Anyway, have fun, Rob. lokigames.com is your friend :D

Ive just been looking in the graphics card section, and to sort out your confusion, the first card for £80 on the list is the MX400, made by Sparkle. The second card on the list for £80 is the original MX, but made by creative, a slightly more "desired" brand than sparkle, if you see what I mean. If you do buy from here, just get the MX400, thats the first one, made by sparkle. OK?

Oh, I see, forget about the MX200 mate, its woth the extra £10 here for the MX400, which is the £80 card. But then you could always go to dabs.com and get one of the two I was talking about for less. Honestly, installing an AGP graphics Card is a peice of p**s, although your old integrated card COULD (emphasis on could) screw things up a bit.

Means the original MX chipset, of the three versions (MX, MX200, MX400). Former and latter are fine, the 200 sucks, it's now residing in my dad's box - he hardly ever plays games, and still complains about it..

What do you mean "original one", nvidia design/make the actual card, and then manufacturers such as sparkle and abit produce their own version of this card. There is no "original" made by a manufacturer, if that's what you mean.
