Lately when i have been playing some of my new games on my pc, i have noticed that the graphics seem a bit smudged , and not very sharp. Also that with the more sophisticated games i have noticed more glitches and some places in a level , especially outside that the detail gets very messed up and sometimes there are bits of the backround missing.
So if i bought a graphics card for my computer would it help these problems and make the game look sharper etc ? Also if it is a graphics card i need is there any ones that you could recommend to me as a first time buyer?
Last thing is are they hard to fit , and is it best to let a special reserve technichan fit it for me.
Will be greatful for any advice on this topic, or some answers to my questions.
Dave :)

No, 800mhz is fine.

GeForces: Handle transforms and lighting themselves, so less work on the CPU. Not fantastic at anti-aliasing but keep the framerate high. Good speed, OK quality. The GF2 you want has 32mb VRAM, so textures may not be as good as:

Voodoo 5: Concentrates on anti-aliasing so quality is fantastic. More focused on good textures (64mb), and good lighting than the GF2. The spped is still good, the difference between normal rendering on my AMD 333mhz and using the Voodoo 5 on a small test 3D thingy is amazing. Fantastic quality, OK speed.

It's a choice between what you want. I technically would be better with a GF2 but I got this Voodoo free. I'd say you'd be better off with a Voodoo, because you already have a decent CPU.

I have a 800mhz P3 , is that crap ? I think i'll go for the Voodoo 5 5500, unless the Geforce 2 Mx 200 would be better for me. As for the price the Voodoo 5 5500 is quite reasonable, i've seen it for £100 could I get it any cheaper. The Geforce 2 Mx200 one is £90.

The GF2 might be a good bet. Better talk to phil about that but I think it's better for PCs whith crap CPUs that actually run slowly, rather than a quality issue.

I will go for that one then if it fits. Is there a good place you would recommend where i could buy it from, i looked for it on special reserve , but it didn't come up with any thing, the only Pci cards i saw were the alliance 8mb PCI , the creative Geforce 2 32mb MX 200, and the sparkle M64. Would any of them be any good ?
But if i can find a decent price for the voodoo 5 5500 i will get that , if it fits that is.

AFAIK = As far as I know.

Yes, a Voodoo 5 5500 would be great for you. You'd get fantastic quality with that card (mmm, 4 chip anti-aliasing...). First though, get the actual dimensions of the card and see if it will physically fit inside, it's quite large! Also, make sure you have a spare power connector. You should do, but it's worth a check.

AFAIK, I new mobo is your only option. You should check these things before you buy stuff. A good PCI card is the Voodoo 5 5500, apparently it's the best PCI you can get and it's pretty good. No T&L though, so it'f for fast CPUs mainly. I think you can get them for <£100.

The PCI version are obviously inferior, but they're still good. This PCI falls about 200 3DMARKs behind the AGP on a 750mhz CPU, and they both do about 2000.
