While in a games shop recently I realised the price of games was quite high, now Im not saying it’s the first time ive noticed but it’s the first time ive really thought about it. I remember games costing a max of 20 pound. Now you get games averaging out at around 40 maybe 5o pounds. But 40 quid for a game! Isn’t that UN reasonable! A hair dresser will have to cut 8 peoples hair to get that amount of money. A standard employer will have to work a full day for it! and the worst thing is most of it is the retailers add on`s. I mean they probably buy a 30 quid game for 5 pound. (Not sure about that).

But is it fair to say that they are all taking our money away. 40 quid for the game. 150 for the console or 100 for the graphics card (pc) then you get your extras like joystick etc.

Another annoying thing is that a month later the same game is half price in a sale then its clearance for £9.99!

I believe it’s fair to say they do steal our money but is it worth it?

Games costing 40 quid can give us hours of fun and pleasure; I mean ive wasted a good 20 hours on some games. And I do think my self that fun is one of the great enjoyments of life. But they are other ways of doing this.

For those that spend hours playing there play station 2 can you honestly say you don’t regret paying X amount for a game.

It really annoys me the price of games these days. When not even half is for the people that make it. Its all deleviry, profit add ons, vat.

Thank you for reading my post, and if you disagree with what I say then I will take no offence to what you say, after all its opinion.

I also noticed that aswell that games are lowered after a certain amount of time.

Why dont they just sell the games for about £20 and keep the prices like that until 6 months later, and then they should lower the prices.

Most people say that "oh, £39.99 for 1 games that has been No.1 in the top 5 for weeks, and decides to wait for it to be lowered, but they wait a little then buy it and then the next day "BOOM", the game has been lowered by £10

With that £10 what could you get?

My point here (before any of you ask) is that why dont they just keep the price at a reasonable priceso people will buy it, instead of waiting for it to be lowered?

The short story is, games cost a hell of a lot to create these days, so when they are released, they are priced at a level which people will pay, and start to replenish their costs of development. After a set limit is sold (enough copies and money made to cover the cost of development), any money thereafter is all profit (minus small cost of production and delivery, which is like £2 per unit or something stupid), but as the majority of people who intended to own that particular game already own it, the price is lowered (known as going platinum) to encourage anyone who still doesn’t own the game to buy it.

It's not all companies being greedy, its just cost covering.

if a company was to sell their games at 20 instead of 30,that 10 difrence would make them so much more richer, millions more would buy the games.

Am i right or wrong.

but if they sold em cheaper when they started they wouldnt have the problem of having to lower them because more people would of bought it.
