If a tree falls, does it make a noise if no one is there to hear it?

I expect you've heard it before, but I spent most of my German lesson thinking over this. :D

Aha, right quantum theory.........

A light bulb exists in two states, on or off, it will only be either when someone looks at it and forces it to become something in state, sounds like a right load of old tosh to me, why??

Because I don't understand the concept or know how it works, that's why Einstien is famous he figured the damn thing out and penned his theory.

Still we can't complain, digital electronics would never have come into existence if people didn't grasp quantum theory............

so bascially the trees decide to be quit jusr because no-one's around to hear them.but if someone's there they make as much noise as possible.

eh?

damn attention-seeking trees! How were they brought up?
As a single child I'll bet.

yes it makes noise.

I saw this programme about sound and they put an alarm clock into a container and sucked out all the air, you couldn't hear a thing but that doesn't mean it's not making any noise does it now??

The cat will exist in both dead and alive states until it is observed as being one or another. Same theory applies to light in its wave/particle duality. : ]

What, like the mirror in Harry Potter? I can't prove that we don't live on a Matrix style plane, but they were happy until Keanu Reeves went and ruined it for them.

Prove they exist... mirrors may only show what u want to see ;)

Prove we are not in a "Matrix"-style world where we're n a computer generation...

That's what I had to study in Religious studies!

What if you leave it there and it suffocates?

But that wasn;t the point of the question! Read my second from last post!
