I expect you've heard it before, but I spent most of my German lesson thinking over this. :D
> Sound can't exist without someone to hear it. Simple.
That's quite possibly the stupidest thing I've heard all week.
Well done.
From Family Guy. Excellent stuff.
> 99% of all maths is useless.
I agree, but what a useless maths fact there!
Quantum Theory is interesting and challenges you to think about the universe in different terms than you are usually used to. Anything that challenges your preconceptions and makes you think in different ways is good, but it always has it's heretics who are against it. Look at the whole androgyny thing, so many people just bulk at the idea of the sexes being challenged like that, even in today’s society.
Mind you, it’s not really surprising when there are children out there in the UK today who still think Germans are evil because their parents told them that, mainly because they themselves were educated that way from parents who had been at war and had no intention of challenging their own theories on the issues they saw in black and white. It’s a dangerous type of brainwashing that causes race riots and bigoted opinion. Makes me sick.
Anyway, there are no absolutes in physics. You cannot prove that vibrations cause sound. You can support this theory by repeatedly noticing that everything that is vibrating is making sounds, and things not vibrating are not making sounds, but you cannot PROVE it. (In fact Maths is the only provable subject... once you actually prove a theorem it will remain true independant of anything else)
To give an example, let's take brownian motion. There is no proof that says that this is to do with molecules bouncing off each other. There is evidence to support this theory, but not one scientist has proved that this will always happen. In fact, the molecules may move just because you're looking at them, and they stop moving when you stop looking at them!

Maths: good
