Apparently, he is initially on a 'one year trial period' at the moment, with a buy-out clause set at around £32 million. The united board have officially denied such rumours, but one thing which is not in doubt is that Veron is not happy where he is. He claims to be unfamiliar with the English style of football and the role he has been asked to fulfill.
Personally, I think getting rid of him would be a good thing. Not only has he been unimpressive for the majority of the games he's taken part in this season, but United have changed their formation and style of play in order to fit him into the squad. There simply isn't room for Veron in a midfield with Beckham, Giggs, Keane and Scholes, and his arriveal had done as much as anything to unsettle the players.
What problems could occur next season for us, if a new manager trying to form his own team, is appointed???
Veron's passing is very inconsistent and he gives away the ball far to often. Down the right he is less of a liability and that is where i believe he should he play.
It was nice to see how the mid-field rotated agaisnt villa before butt got injured. Everyone had thier down running down the wing. But with the injury, veron took more of a permanent central role and i dont belive he should play it for United. He is allright against the "average" teams, but he doesnt perform against the top teams.
But Veron told Gazzetta Dello Sport: "I was very proud to find out that the Cragnotti family would like to take me back to Lazio.
"...in life one does not know and I don't want to close the door to Lazio for the future."
"And I must admit that in England, I have still not found the warmth of the Lazio fans."
As far as I can tell, he is very good at this. His diplomacy is quite impressive. I personally don't think he'll leave any time soon, but seeing as there is nothing much to go on either way right now, it's foolish to say he'll be leaving.
- Though you will notice he appears to be a lot happier at united now than he was way back when I first posted this topic.
"Every day is exciting - every match presents a new challenge for me and the team. I think people thought it might be hard for me to settle here but my only regret is I didn't come earlier. It is everything I expected and more," the 26-year-old told F365.
"The club have been great, the players supportive and the fans have welcomed me with open arms. On the field I enjoy life without too much pressure and without that pressure I find it easier to play and play to better myself.
"There is no shortage of excitement here," Veron continued. "When I came to England everyone insisted that Manchester United would win everything after they signed me and Ruud van Nistelrooy. The club were already strong without us and it would appear our signings would only strengthen their resolve. We've had indifferent, good and bad results. But I love the excitement. At the moment the resolve is strong, everyone is playing well and we've gone on a good run. Life is good."
Despite his relaxed attitude, there is no question that Veron is taking life at United very seriously. But he is certainly happy that football is a little less serious in England than it was in Italy.
"The mentality is different," he explained. "Football is not such a way of life - in Italy, it is everything and more. As a result, you are under so much pressure that it's hard to play without worrying about the consequences, particularly in defeat. It's fantastic when things are going well, but when they don't you pay a heavy price for it. You sense the uneasiness of it all and that kind of pressure leads to mistakes.
"I feel you need to play with a clear head and without pressure to perform well. Sometimes that isn't easy to do in Italy."
Veron added: "The media don't help in respect of privacy because I think they encourage the supporters to invade your privacy. It's extremely difficult to go out for meals, anywhere really, without being pestered.
"As much as I'm becoming better known in England, the fans are much more polite here. I'm not used to that, but I enjoy it."
Veron did not want to leave Lazio, but after Lazio's spending spree in the Summer of 2001, money had to be found!
There is also rumours that Liverpool are signing Dwight Yorke. If this is true, then fergie is looking to buy Kluivert from Barcelona which he was gonna sign ages ago.
