It's been reported in a variety of sources today, that Juan Sebastian Veron has a get out clause in his conrtact which enables him to leave old trafford at the end of the season.

Apparently, he is initially on a 'one year trial period' at the moment, with a buy-out clause set at around £32 million. The united board have officially denied such rumours, but one thing which is not in doubt is that Veron is not happy where he is. He claims to be unfamiliar with the English style of football and the role he has been asked to fulfill.

Personally, I think getting rid of him would be a good thing. Not only has he been unimpressive for the majority of the games he's taken part in this season, but United have changed their formation and style of play in order to fit him into the squad. There simply isn't room for Veron in a midfield with Beckham, Giggs, Keane and Scholes, and his arriveal had done as much as anything to unsettle the players.

Hmmmm.

Yeah, Chadwick is a pritty decent player. He aint no Giggs, but he is a worthy sub. Should have scored against Villa though...but then we woudnt have been sent into Van Heaven...

Personally, i think its time to move Beckham into the centre of midfield and move Veron out wide permanently.

The main arguments i heard for Beckham not moving into the centre were that we would lose his crossing ability from out wide...Well...Veron (on most days) can put in a ball just as good as Beckham.

Another reason is that Veron is far too wasteful when he is on the ball. He loses the ball in the centre of midfield far too many times for a international wizard. Beckham on the other hand keeps the ball well. Veron out wide would mean less chance of punishment if he losses the ball.

just a though...

How about chadwick?
Despite a brutal assault at birth from the ugly stick, that guy is fantastic on the dribble, he regularly takes 3 or 4 defenders apart on his runs. Of course, then he always scuffs a shot that doesn't cause the keeper any problems, but if he could sort out his finishing (or just always pass the ball), he'd be a great midfield threat.

My opinion? Either lose keane or veron, and bring chadwick in either when giggs is out or in squad rotation anywhere in the midfield.

Also, solskjear should never play a first half! Lose yorke, get a replacement, play 4-4-2, and make scholes an emergency striker for injuries etc.

And keep an eye out for someone to replace blanc : )

But then again, what do i know?

yea giggs would have been truly world class and got the recognition he truly deserves if he didn't keep getting nagged by that persistent injury trouble. it's a shame really because instead of being a brilliant player he could have been a out of this world player

I also hope Giggs stays hamstring injury free!! He's our key midfielder, in the attacking sence! Maybe that's how Veron could eventually be?? Maybe Giggs should get a hamstring op. at the start of the summer?? He's not in the world cup and there's the WHOLE SUMMER for him to recover, ready for a new season, with his problem permanently cured!!

I doubt Veron would have any family living in Argentina. The guy earns 70K ish a week. Surely he would have moved his family? But yeah, could be likely to be affecting him if he does have family in Argentina.

Do you think that the problems back in Argentina could be effecting Veron's form?

The country's in turmoil, if he has any family back there it must surely effect him?

Agreed. Giggs return to the team lifted us out of our slump. His attacking prescense down the left was a well needed boost, and meant that silvestre didnt have to push forward as much and leave our defense open.

Apparently he could be back for the Southampton game...but i doubt he will be played. I dont want him risked, I want a fully fit Giggs for the Liverpool game. It will be a Huge game for us. Not only will a win put a huge dent in Liverpool's title challenge, but also we got somthin to prove. What is it now? 4 games in a row that Liverpool has beat us? That just isnt on.

In the past we have beaten them easy home and away due to thier inability to defend properly. And i remember at one point we were actually going to Anfield as favourites to win, which is a rareity. BUt Liverpool have learnt to defend now, mainly in the form of playing very boring negative football. At first this was a surprise to everyone, not the sort of thing you expect from a Liverpool side which was built upon the "pass and move" style. But as we see now, with thier current set of results proving, teams have come to expect liverpool to play a boring game and have played tactics accordingly to counter-act this.

So, what is fergie gonna do against them? the threat of the pace of anelka and owen is lethal. Can they play together? Apparently they played well against birmingham, which is a start, but it aint anything to shout about...

Blanc blatently wont be able to keep up with them, so we are gonna have to make sure we play deep and not try no offside crap, becasue u are gonna get caught out at least once. Fergie has gotta beat Liverpool in his last season in charge...its just gotta happen.

Jaap Stam took a while to settle in, but he was amazing once he did. It's likely to be the same for Juan, as the midfield is all about communication. It's not the same for strikers... they can switch clubs more easily without affecting their performance.

I really do think Veron will be a great player towards the end of the season, if he stays on the team.

Oh, and Giggs is truly class this season. He really is brilliant, but doesn't seem to get quite the level of recognition he deserves. I pray for the sake of our champions league effort, that giggs doesn't have any hamstring problems again this year.

It's a strange scenario to bring him in and then discuss letting him go at the end of the season. If Veron made all these demands when he signed surely Ferguson should have realised he was more troubler than he was worth?

Surely you need to have a good attitude to warrant being signed by the biggest club in the world?

Veron is a class player though. He woudnt be one the main players for the world cup favourites.

Maybe he needs a little more time to adapt into the team, it does look as though Veron does have a "i iz playing in every game" claus in his contract though. When was the last time he droped Veron for game?
