Ok, my list is in no particular order and this list is about picking your favourites - as in their looks and general abilities in battles. So don't go thinking you have to pick 10 that would make a well balanced - they can be all fire types if your favourites tend to all be that type. :-)
Anyway, heres mine (some of you might not know some of these as they're in Sapphire and Ruby)...
01. Pikachu
02. Steelix
03. Aggron
04. Kyogre
05. Lugia
06. HellHound (name right ? basically the one that looks like a doberman in gold and silver)
07. Charizard
08. Duskull
09. Tropius
10. Arbok
Blastoise - you always have a soft spot for your first one :-)
Golem - great for taking out legendary birds with Rock Slide
Dragonite - Decent attack and hard to hurt. VERY weak against ice moves though (so when my friend gave his Mewtwo blizzard... grrr!).
Gengar - Invunerable to most attacks, in most players didn't think of using ground type attacks! :-)
Gyrados - Pure power. Pity he had no air attacks.
(I also had a Mewtwo in my best team but I didn't like him as much - too powerful for an interesting match)
Scyther (like him better than Scizor for some reason)
Steelix - Much better than what he evolved from!
Tyranitar - finally, someone who whupped Mewtwo and other psychic pests!
2 more... hmmm...
I'll just leave it there for now.
Mew...
Snorlax. He rules.
Anywho, I got 251 as the latest pokemon count.
I miss pokemon.
It sounds really quite sad. But pokemon rules.
I want GC version. Now.
Any news?
You've always got to have a graveller.
And which Pokémon I chose at the start.
Indeed.
I can only remember when there were 150 of the little critters. Now there's a couple of million, isn't there?
Can't keep up with everything.
I liked Scyther, though - it ruled.
And Ditto.
Anyone know an exact figure as to how many there are these days?
hmmm...maybe that crappy bee one.
