Morrowind is a fantastic RPG if you have the time for it.

So, I decided after looking at this thread, it needed editing.

Morrowind discussion, discuss about Morrowind.

Pretty straight forward really.

Tell us your Morrowind storys, cool stuff you've done ect.

No - you can level up by using magic, buying and selling etc - hell, if I made acrobatics a major/minor skill, I'd be level 100 by now! It does have a large emphasis on combat, as it's silly not to have a strong weapon skill - butyou could play the game without levelling up solely through combat.

Pretty sure you have to sleep. I think it takes that idea form AD&D as it does some others.

That's one of the problems with the level system: It's based around killing things. PErsonally I'd like to see more experience dealt out for successful robberies using stealth and for doing potentially non-violent quests like blackmail, deliveries and collecting debt money. I found this monk in the game who wants you to go about collecting tithes and clothes for charity and it got me thinking how the it'd be interesting if you could gain experience for funny little errand and attempts at blackmail etc for a more intelligent approach to the game.

As it is the 'kill to level up' experience system renders the game as more of a glorified hack 'n slasher.

Mabye Oblivion'll have a re-vamped (no pun intended) experience system. I don't necessarily wantto play a peaceful monk (who obviously can still kick ass if attacked) but it'd be nice to know the option was there.

The levelling system is like a snowball - it takes a while to get rolling, but once you get so powerful/rich, it's easy to level up.

And I think you can just rest to level up.

Nah have done a bit of dying, went around on foot and swam a bit, kept dying with those pesky fish! But rather than do story, i've collected/stole quite a bit instead, which takes an age to level up, as does bow skills by the look of it.
Probably only done 2 hours of actual game as i keep forgetin to save afore i steal stuff then restart instead of going to jail! Rich but not very powerful! Although i've not slept a lot. Does it matter if you sleep or just rest as there are two options?

If you're still on Level 1 after 4 hours then I think you're doing something wrong, or you chose the wrong major skills. Did you know that you have to go to sleep to level up?

Woohoo, finally arrived yesterday, and took up most of last night.

Went for an stealthy elfy with a bow. Although thinking i'm gonna regret it, for some reason i can hardly hit anything (with bow or knife) and don't know what i'm doing wrong? Any tips? Still on level 1 too after 4ish hours, and judging by the size of the map there be many more hours left in it!

Still playing this. Just killed Dagoth Ur and claimed my fated Nerevarine status.

*Spolier*

If anoyone wants to improve their Personality by 30 pts and be liked by all, then go to a tower in Dagonfel (sp) and claim the Masque of Clavicus Vile. Not as easy as it seems if you're as weak as a sewer rat, mind.

******* Spoiler **************

To the north of Caldera a woman asks you to escort her and she'll give you the blinding boots of speed. Personally I just bumped her off for 'em.
