Nintendo - seller of games to children, or evil child corruptor?

Take doom for GBA. In its day, doom was the most violent game ever made. It was resident evil and half life in one.
Even today people try to use it as an example of a 'bad' game.

All nintendo have done to make sure they can sell this game to little 5 year olds is make the blood green and the bodies fade. Toddlers will still be chain gun cha-cha ing imps to death, and playing with the BFG. No one under 8 should be allowed near this game. There is a limit people. I wouldnt let my little nephew play resident evil, it would mess him up ALOT. Censorship is over done these days, but small children do need protecting.

In German videogames red blood is not allowed!!!

In a way all games are classed, as PG. It’s not illegal for a 5 year old to play GTA3. But it is illegal for a 5 year old to walk in a shop and actually buy the game; this applies with films as well.

I therefore think that the rules are ok. If your 14 like me and want to get Red Faction, just take an adult or someone over 15 with you, same with 18’s. Simple

I was talking about games like Silent Hill really, and that they could affect kids the age of 6, where as kids from the age of 12, I don't think, would be affected unless they were mentally disadvantaged.

But then again, I could be wrong. Probably am. {:)

You are missing my point. If you 11 + play what you like. All im saying is that 5 year olds should play a game where the only thing you do is kill or get killed.

In future, please learn to read an article before talking about it.

Nintendo have to take responsibility for what they allow on their systems. You cant say that it was all the publishers fault. Ninty should have checked it.

In fact, the nintendo 'seal of approval' on the box (the gold star) 'proves' they have checked it and found it suitable 4 release.

maybe if we were younger we would still think we should be allowed to play these games, but when you're a teenager then you can tell the difference between doing something in a gaming world and in reality, and you know stuff isn't real, like Resi Evil, if a load of little kids played it they might get scared that somebody would turn into a zombie, or try to eat their brains. But teenagers know it isn't real, and teenagers can make up their own minds about whether or not to play something. Sure, a game may still frighten them, but they can decide for themselves because they are old enough to know, (or should know) whether they'll be easily scared by the kind of content in a game. With regards to the violence factor it's the same, teenagers can determine that doing something in even the most realistc game isn't the same as doing it in reality, where as kids may think it is the same (not the same, but have the same consequences if you know what I mean...)

In my view, the ratings are very wrong.

For instance, most of my favourite games are 15's. Now I'm 14, so I wouldn't be able to play GTA3, Smackdown, MGS, Deus Ex, Red Faction and many, many more. There would be no fun in gaming, I don't want to wait till I'm 18 to play GTA3!

Also, have any of these affected me?? No, not in the least. Well, I don't think so anyway.

Okay, so 6 year old kids shouldn't play Ressie or Silent Hill, but please get rid of the 15's, or at least the 12's! This goes for movies too, but not as much.

Freeola & GetDotted are rated 5 Stars
