ok we all know that everyone in here is ps1 and ps2 fanatics. I am going to ask u guys a difficult thing to do.
I want u guys to name decent things about the gamecube. Even though its not out here yet do you reckon it will challenge the ps2 for its crown?

I will be getting a GameCube, no doubt about it. Even though I have a PS2 as well, that won't bother me. I have yet to buy a game for my PS2, you see, and therefore are pretty peed off with it. I can't afford any games for it! All I look forward to is Christmas, where about 4 PS2 games lie in store for me from my generous family. After that is my birthday, January 29th. I will be getting my mum and dad to save up and go half 'n' half on the GameCube in preperation for the GameCube's European launch. The rest of my family? ONE PS2 game, and the rest I'll get money for the GameCube to get games.

Fair enough. And what will you have?

Another Mario. Another Donkey Kong. Another Pokemon. Another Perfect Dark.

Grow up, Cooky, and take of your blinkers. People buy a console whose games appeal to them. For some that's Nintendo, for some that was Sega, and for most it's PlayStation.

The use of the 'casual gamer' argument is also pathetic - it's just a term to degrade those who like different games to you; "Oh, he likes PlayStation games - obviously only a casual gamer, then." What utter bullocks.

Both platforms have sequels, and both have some very good original games. If you don't like PlayStation, don't buy one - no-one really cares. But don't try and justify it with stupid arguments.

The Gamecube will be another QUALITY Nintendo console and will have some FANTASTIC games released on it!

I'm just afraid that again most casual gamers will just buy up the Playstation again so that they can continue to play their sequel after sequel games. Don't think i'm talking bull on that last point. I was in a tutorial the other day, looking at the games charts and all but "1" game in the PS2's top 10 was a sequel!

That is not the way I like my main console! What I mean by that is that i'm gonna get a Gamecube as my main console, because I love Nintendo games, and there are some actually original games getting released for it. In a couple years I might get a PS2 just so that I can play the Final Fantasy games, and Metal Gear Solid, as they are about the only games that make the PS2 a worthwhile purchase!

Gamecube's shaping up to be a fine machine. Like adrian, I'm 99% sure I'll be getting one, but not at launch.

I don't think it will take PS2's 'crown' though.

The X-Box and the Gamecube have massive followings, and good looking titles for them both, but I'm still glad I got a PS2.

I think it will do good. I dont think it will beat the PS2 in the markets as the PS2 has got its size 20 boot firmly between the door and the door frame. But I think its going to be a good console to get and I am 99% sure that I will pre-order one. And only about 10% sure about the X-Box.

I don't like the look of the console at all (the silver DVD one looks pretty good though). There are some good games in the pipeline too but I honestly don't think that it'll be stealing any of the PS2's market share.
