I want u guys to name decent things about the gamecube. Even though its not out here yet do you reckon it will challenge the ps2 for its crown?
Gran Turismo 2 to 3 - both racing games (both good)
Mario 64 to Mario Tennis - Two very different games (again bothe good)
We've also established that the reason 'true' sequels keep coming on the PlayStation is that the orignial game was so amazing that people want more of the same, only bigger, better and faster.
Surely if you combine those two issues, it means that no Nintendo game has ever been good enough to warrant a proper sequel?
;-p
You are now in amongst Grix and Meka as people who are less biased. Its good to see your kind of arguments, rather than the comments coming up below.
I realise this topic was a chance for them to defend the console, but to defend something, you need weapons - hard evidence, rather than loads of pointless insults and hot air.
I'm a Ninty. I want a GameCube - but you don't see me dissin' the PS2! (That might be because I have one, too):D
The only sensible way for me to argue Nintendo's case here, is that in my opinion, their games are far more enjoyable. Who cares if a game has the same title as before, making it a sequel. It's still a new adventure - still a new game to play. What's the harm in a sequel, eh?
Although, Luigi's Mansion and Super Monkey Ball are no sequels, yet they look mighty fine!
SHOCKY
Grix: Maybe if we send them to the PS2 forum on a "mission" they`ll decide to stay there, and we won`t have to put up with them anymore
Meka: Hey! Good idea! Shall we tell them its a special operation to increase the GC`s popularity? They`re bound to fall for that one! :-)
Nintendo's seguels are good because there's actually a few years, maybe a console generation before the sequel comes. Sequels i'm complaining about are the ones you tend to get on the Playstation like Tomb Raider, Army Men which don't seem to change at all, and get released every other week!
:)
Everyone is slating the fact that the GC and PS2 have many sequals, and that the PS2 chart is full of sequals... but maybe this is a sign that some people actually like them?
Granted, a completely new, original game is always wanted, why should sequals be a bad thing? If made properly, with enough extra depth and features (and not simply more characters), then I'm all for them! I would love to see updates of all my favourite games... if they are made well!
So to accuse Nintendo of being lazy by making yet ANOTHER Mario game is absurd. The leap that Mario made from the Snes to the N64 should be more than enough to convince you of that... it was, in my mind, the first game to utilise 3D as more than an extra place to put graphics, and is still an benchmark game.
So, can we please, please stop talking about the fact games are sequals, and talk about the actual games!
