I want u guys to name decent things about the gamecube. Even though its not out here yet do you reckon it will challenge the ps2 for its crown?

I was only stating my opinion - I love Final Fantasy 7 - in my opinion one of thre best RPGs ever made, and I also like so some of the other PS series, but in my opinion, the Nintendo Mario games are not in the true sense of the word sequels:

Gran Turismo 2 to 3 - both racing games (both good)

Mario 64 to Mario Tennis - Two very different games (again bothe good)

Okay, so we've determined that PS2 'sequels' really are sequels, whereas Nintendo sequels, umm, aren't sequels... not really, no siree.

We've also established that the reason 'true' sequels keep coming on the PlayStation is that the orignial game was so amazing that people want more of the same, only bigger, better and faster.

Surely if you combine those two issues, it means that no Nintendo game has ever been good enough to warrant a proper sequel?

;-p

It seems I`ll have to add another to my list of "less biased people".

You are now in amongst Grix and Meka as people who are less biased. Its good to see your kind of arguments, rather than the comments coming up below.

I realise this topic was a chance for them to defend the console, but to defend something, you need weapons - hard evidence, rather than loads of pointless insults and hot air.

Umm, isn't that the point of this topic, ssxpro? For Ninties to come along and defend their up-coming console? Hey, it might be annoying, but it was almost inevitable!

I'm a Ninty. I want a GameCube - but you don't see me dissin' the PS2! (That might be because I have one, too):D

The only sensible way for me to argue Nintendo's case here, is that in my opinion, their games are far more enjoyable. Who cares if a game has the same title as before, making it a sequel. It's still a new adventure - still a new game to play. What's the harm in a sequel, eh?

Although, Luigi's Mansion and Super Monkey Ball are no sequels, yet they look mighty fine!

Where`s Grix, Meka, and the other Nintendo fans who can actually argue with sense and logic? Did the Nindendo forum send these people - Cooky, Cyclone and co - to get rid of them?

Grix: Maybe if we send them to the PS2 forum on a "mission" they`ll decide to stay there, and we won`t have to put up with them anymore

Meka: Hey! Good idea! Shall we tell them its a special operation to increase the GC`s popularity? They`re bound to fall for that one! :-)

strange when i entered this forum i thought it said sony ps1&ps2 obviously i must have missed the gamecube and nintendo bits of the title. you like nintendo fine good for you but don't be stepping in the sony forum just to have a go at the playstations cause GASP they have sequels. cause like no other console in history ever had sequels did it nintendo has sequels sony has sequels sega had sequels. plus the fact that sony has more games made for it *fact look at number of n64 releases compared to playstation and you can't disagree* the law of averages means that a game coming out will probably be a sequel after 1 year of launch. course the n64 didn't last too long compared to a technically inferior machine in the playstation did it i laugh in all you ninty fans coming in here trying to have a go at us cause we bought a sony console WE MUST BE EVIL quick let's go buy a gamecube and cleanse our tarnished souls *turns back and walks away rolling his eyes at this discussion*

This is what I said!

Nintendo's seguels are good because there's actually a few years, maybe a console generation before the sequel comes. Sequels i'm complaining about are the ones you tend to get on the Playstation like Tomb Raider, Army Men which don't seem to change at all, and get released every other week!

What's so bad about sequals? Well?

Everyone is slating the fact that the GC and PS2 have many sequals, and that the PS2 chart is full of sequals... but maybe this is a sign that some people actually like them?

Granted, a completely new, original game is always wanted, why should sequals be a bad thing? If made properly, with enough extra depth and features (and not simply more characters), then I'm all for them! I would love to see updates of all my favourite games... if they are made well!

So to accuse Nintendo of being lazy by making yet ANOTHER Mario game is absurd. The leap that Mario made from the Snes to the N64 should be more than enough to convince you of that... it was, in my mind, the first game to utilise 3D as more than an extra place to put graphics, and is still an benchmark game.

So, can we please, please stop talking about the fact games are sequals, and talk about the actual games!

OK, i've got more games for my Playstation than I have for my N64, but I honestly have more fond memories of my N64 games than I have on my N64 than those i've got for my Playstation!
