"We need a website"

Right. The web design forum here needs a website, for posting all sorts of advice, links, news etc. A "community" website. It should be interactive and fully display the best of our skills. So:

Coding - Me, cjh and ajh. Basically anyone who can.

Site design and layout - Reaper and Tyla. You guys work together on it. Give me a final layout as a Fireworks file and I'll take it from there

Content - Andy/Bob, and everyone else here

We need some webspace, I'll get some at Freedom2Surf once their servers come back online. They're a very good server for what we want to do. If anyone else wants to help out, that's great.

Any more suggestions would be welcome.

+ £75 to install, I say no Thank you to them.

I think BT is £25 as well.

Shame NTL BB isn't in this area ... *sign* I might have got it for £25.

BB from NTL/Blueyonder is onlt £25.

We're going for grey/white/light blue. We want a modern look. I'm experimenting with steel and metal textures though. One thing: White background is essential.

I have done a prelim but I can't be bothered to upload it. I will went it's, err.. finished :-)

Hm, third person who has said that now..I think sticking to the current layout is very limiting, and it's not actually made by SR, it's a group of its users who found each other through it, much prefer something original really..

I was thinking something kinda similer to Freeola's Layout, as thats the main audience were aiming for right now!!!

What kind of image are we looking for in the site? We don't want something too "show off"-ish packed full of java and flash, but we don't want something too simplistic that people surfing it assume we have no technical knowledge..



Ideas for colours? Anyone hacked up an alpha layout? I can try some stuff out and give people ftp access to my box and we can "collaborate" :)

hehe, theres one difference with me and Turbo then, he'd be willing to pay for BB, but can't get it in his area, and I can get it in my area, but if you think I'm paying £40 a month, BT Can kiss mine.... maybe we should just trade homes Turbo, lol.

So, anyway, has anyone got a template for our Site then?? or has any ideas for a layout?

The terrible thing that is RE coursework, or thats what I'm supposed to be doing, spending more time surfing and looking at case mods though.
