If the x-box costs £299 in the UK, $299 in the US...
Then it will fail. Europeans have had enough of being screwed - especially be greedy American giants Microsoft. £45 a game - you must be joking. I won't pay more than £35. You could buy 5 second hand quality PS titles for each x-box one... And consumers (everyday people that walk into GAME) will know that by looking at the shelves infront of them.
2 x-box games, and you could BUY a PS1 with a game or 2!!! Imagine what you could do with £300! Buy a PS1 and every classic available!
The x-box is a console being sold at a PC price. It's doomed.
Yes, the Playstation 2 cost that amount at launch, I even bough my original PS for £300 many years ago. The difference is that when they were launched they were the only option in the market that could provide consumers with the games they needed/wanted. Now the PS2 and gamecube (both at £199) will be in the shops alongside it!
NO-ONE WILL BUY THE X-BOX!! They have no idea about the UK market. They are insulting us with this price. Whay does the x-box offer over the other consoles? A couple of exclusive titles and more polygons per second??
They can go shove Abe's Odessey up BG's behind!
I couldn't give a *beep* about Shenmue and Phantasy Star Online is coming out for the GC.
*Dusts hands and looks smugly at the ever decreasing popularity of the X-box*
Sega can't *win* the *war* for them, you know people.
Let's put it lok this Shocky:
The last DC game is due out next March.
The XBox launches next March, coincedance, no?
Some people don't like the PS2 out of principal, and don't like the style of game on the GC, so they'll buy an XBox.
As I've said about 4 times now, if you expect the XBox to sell as many units as the PS2, it won't happen simple as that.
However, that doesn't mean the XBox is a failure. The XBox won't fail, it just won't sell as many units as the PS2. It can still be a success by *only* selling 25 million units or so.

> how many exclusive titles will the X-box
> have exactly, eh? Enough to tempt people to spend £299 on one?

The *slight* mistake I made?
:-)
It was only a slight mistkae, mate, you didn't have to write out the whole bloody thing again, did ya?
Sorry mate, but you're wrong. GameCube will have DVD capabilities in the form of the Panasonic version of GameCube, which I admit is quite far away.
X-box literally has NOTHING NEW about it. People who have a Dreamcast won't buy an X-box for the games, will they? Unless Sega stop making games for the Dreamcast and only create games for the X-box like Shenmue, etc...
Sega will be making all sorts of games for each console, how many exclusive titles will the X-box have exactly, eh? Enough to tempt people to spend £299 on one? Pah, pathetic...

The XBox will operate like any other console. You turn it on and put the DVD in. You DON'T have to wait for it to load like a PC.
Also, yes, Nintendo have got some Sega games, but for epics like Shenmue etc, well, MS signed an exclusivity deal with Sega earlier this week.
Also, the XBox will do more than the GC in that it can play DVDs as well as playing games online. The GC can't, which is ONE of a few reasons why the XBox is more expensive than the GC.
As for Tellah (I think) asking who will buy an XBox, I may well do.
If the PS2 doesn't sort itself out by Christmas, I'll sell mine and buy an XBox.
