Okay, an absolute torrent of entries for this one, it too ka good couple of hours to read them all, and I had to kill several trees for the paper to print them all out, so no moaning about the winners.

Winner of a game of his choice - mickey, for his suggestion of a 'Gameaday Receipt' idea, of which many of you suggested, but mickey got their first. Well done, mickey.

Runners up prize of a DVD of his choice goes to Aliboy, for his 'Santa' idea. It's well put and a nice festive idea, so it's definitely worthy of a prize. Congrats.

Thanks to everyone for all your entries, we read them all and found them to be very useful. Peace out, and complaints to the usual address. Cheers

Ali

Extra GAD prize here for those with a creative brain to help us with our marketing and promotions.

1. Don't suggest any alterations to the site design. Don't suggest expensive campaigns.

2. Suggest how we can attract more visitors to the site from within the pages of our Club Magazine and our adverts in the specialist press such as PC Gamer.

3. Remember space is very limited. But you can enter this with something as simple as a change to the wording which we already use.

Below is an example of the type of thing we are looking for:

Headline
So, what do you say boys?

Text
Chat me up and WIN! Visit Gameaday.co.uk now. Just click on me and type in your favourite chat up line. That's all it takes to win ANY game of your choice in our EXTRA chat up line competition. There's one prize for the best and one for the worst chat up lines.

Picture
Virtual girl in suggestive pose

Explanation
This would be an extra Gameaday prize running in conjunction with the promotional campaign. Designed specifically to draw in new visitors.

The winner will be the person who makes the suggestion MOST LIKELY to draw in extra visitors. The deadline for entries is the end of October.

Tricky eh?

How about this.

Headline: none

Text: at the bottom of the page would be www.ukgames.com.

Picture:
Black whole page of magazine (both specialist press and club mag) with a large white jiffy bag in the middle. On the bag is a black stamped GAD and a white label clearly marked YOURS. Underneath would be the website address.

Explanation:
This gets the reader thinking that there is something for them. Being inquisitive, they will go and look at the site and find out what GAD is.

-----

A reworking of this could be:

Headline: Win a game every day - www.ukgames.com.

Picture:
have one bag (or a game box) at the top, with one of those tear-away calanders showing 1st of a month, then another picture underneath showing two bags or games and 2nd on the calender. This would carry on until the bottom of the page.

Alternatively, play the curiosity card and just have www.ukgames.com in big white letters on a black page, it's worked before and will encourage people to the site, just to find out what the fuss is about.

Sorry Tony but that example is pretty poor, I assume you want people to visit the chat rooms and then sign up to SR and buy games instead of thinking that this was a yahoo type chat room before being abused by current members and leaving SR forever.

I'll come up with something better later :P

Can you do this competition in poster form?

If so, what are the maximum dimensions?

Thanks.

for my first idea (of many) a christmas theme:

Headline:
merry gad-mas and a happy new fad

text:
we wish you a merry gad-mas,
we wish you a merry gad-mas,
we wish you a merry gad-mas,
and a happy new fad

the postman will ring,
new games he will bring,
we wish you a merry gad-mas and a happy new fad

its christmas time and that means new games, but you cant afford them all.come to merry old Special reserve, chat to others about games and get a present of a game of your choice every day of the year.

Picture:
Santa with a sack full of new games - GTA3, Smackdown 3 etc

The best and cheapest way to design any video games site is to include a main page, neatly showing the latest news and biggest games that everyone is expecting to see.

Find out what everyoneís most anticipated game is by placing a voting board for them to make a selection. Whichever game was voted the highest; simply add it to the sites main page. Remember, the main page should always cover the latest news and prices. If the most anticipated game is Metal Gear Solid 2, which is very likely to occurÖwhy not have a really cool image of Solid Snake, posing with a mean impression? This will attract a lot of intention to people visiting the site.

Make a special page that only members can participate in. It can be an area where existing membership customers get access to higher quality footage of games and larger screenshots, and even better competitions.
Simply have the login page with boxes for customers to type in their chosen login name and their membership ID number that was given to them when they made their years membership.

Maybe you could put a notice up stating, ìWe match the prices of any retailer, over the internet or even a high street store, providing they have stores in the U.K.

Advertise bannersÖthere free. Have them saying, ìBuy this item now and get a freeÖîthen state down what the free gift could be. Or you could have it stating, ìBuy 1 get the second half priceî.

Maybe you could add a short Flash intro to the site, making it more appealing. Add some music and sound effects. Place the banners here, showing them moving across the screen.
This is not altering the siteÖhonestly speaking; a small intro wouldnít be such a bad idea. Give customers an option to choose a Flash orientated site or the option to view it using regular HTML.

SimpleÖI hope Special Reserve approve of my ideas.

And I hope I win -lol

Thank you.

How about advertising on telly, it's the best way to attract new members.

Each month you post a page dedicated to this months notable and/or regular. Get them to describe in their own words just what the forums is like and why they come on so much. Also get a picture of them (if possible) and put this beside them

Headline
Meet the notables and Regulars

Text
Come meet the stars of the chatroom, those who know what its about and make this place what it is. (Then have some words from the notable or/and regular who are appearing this month describing what it like on the forums at gameaday.

Picture
Picture of the notable or/and regular

Explanation
Gives people the chance to hear ordinarty peoples views on what its like and just how good it is.
