Okay, an absolute torrent of entries for this one, it too ka good couple of hours to read them all, and I had to kill several trees for the paper to print them all out, so no moaning about the winners.

Winner of a game of his choice - mickey, for his suggestion of a 'Gameaday Receipt' idea, of which many of you suggested, but mickey got their first. Well done, mickey.

Runners up prize of a DVD of his choice goes to Aliboy, for his 'Santa' idea. It's well put and a nice festive idea, so it's definitely worthy of a prize. Congrats.

Thanks to everyone for all your entries, we read them all and found them to be very useful. Peace out, and complaints to the usual address. Cheers

Ali

Extra GAD prize here for those with a creative brain to help us with our marketing and promotions.

1. Don't suggest any alterations to the site design. Don't suggest expensive campaigns.

2. Suggest how we can attract more visitors to the site from within the pages of our Club Magazine and our adverts in the specialist press such as PC Gamer.

3. Remember space is very limited. But you can enter this with something as simple as a change to the wording which we already use.

Below is an example of the type of thing we are looking for:

if your a member and get a SR mag delivered to your door you will know that it has some advert leaflets with it in its see-through protective rapping.

how about you put a leaflet in there with the names of all the SR web pages on, like so:

ukgames.com
ukpc.net
ukadvance.com
ukdreamcast.com
ukgameboy.com
ukchatforums.com
gameaday.com

and so on...

it could be 15cm by 10cm, red and with the site names in yellow bubble writing.

This might be classed as an expensive campaign but, then again maybe not.

Right what you could do is have an online gaming competition, nothing major just a little flash game or something which had the scope to be fairly decent and provide a wide range of scoring. This may involve several rounds of different games, unless you manage to come up with some sort of way to have a game which ultimately ends with one winner. The latter option would be better as this means you could run several competitions, one a month or something. The prizes could be extra GADs, and as it is to do with playing games, it isn't being restricted to those who can make banners/websites etc. most people on a gaming site should be fairly competent gamers.

I played Nokia Game last year and that comprised of a couple of little games where you could practise as many times as you liked at the game, but could ultimately submit only one registered score. This was done by selecting your play type (pratice or game) before each attempt. Such a system would work a treat for this idea too. As you aren;t shy for giving away games/films, this could work really well, provided you had someone who knew a fair bit about making flash games, and a creative idea to tie those games into the SR way of life.

This could be easily advertised in the magazines, or any other media you use, and competition could definately spark some new life into the forums, especially if you opened a forum specifically for talking about tactics techniques etc. As for getting people to come to the site, and possibly stay, the games can be open to any registered members but the prizes only sent out to them once they have become a regular, this would encourage people to take part in discussions, and spammers could be threatened with not getting their prize. This is an easy way to kill two birds with one stone, getting people to stay, and cleaning up newbie spamming, I don't know why no one thought of it before.

Anyway, there are plenty of suggestive catchphrases which can be used to advertise competitions, I'll make a few here, but I'm quite sure you guys can come up with something better than me.

Anyway here goes;

Better than the rest?? Put yourself to the test. Gameaday.co.uk

Good at games?? Prove it!! Gameaday.co.uk

Challenge the best, die like the rest!! Gameaday.co.uk

Blackboard and a geeky looking scientist pointing to it with a stick
On the blackboard is this....

Loads of x and ys and ms etc.. you get the idea complicated stuff.
Then underlined and slightly bolder....
therefore:
"Internet shopping - Expensive prices - bad customer service - P&P - Delayed orders = Special Reserve"

Underneath in a black rectangle at bottom of the page (not on black board
---------------------
Why Maths teachers don't teach internet shopping.
www.specialreserve.net < presented in an image
Gaming made easy not boring.
-------------------------

Explanation:
It looks really complicated but it grabs the attention of the reader as there are all these x's etc.. that people wonder what they are there for.
The "SpecialReserve.net", "why maths teachers.." and "gaming made easy..." logo/words are more colourful to grab attention of the reader.
Basically it tells the reader that special reserve is a good service because it is internet shopping minus everything else.

It's also quite funny and people always like a funny advert. Made funny by saying why Maths teachers don't teach internet shopping...

follow the amazing gad trail and get yourself a free game.

the page has a big maze on it, you have to follow the maze and get to the end. at the end will be a picture of some games and dvds, it will say to get your free game, come to gameaday.com.but the maze will be full of obstickles and deadend, like:

another user has posted a better review than you,go back to the begining.

someone who didnt win has gone on the rampage and has blocked your way.

things like that.

it will attract people as they will notice it,try and get to the end, then be forced to see the address.
if i have time i will draw up an example and post the url.
