Indeed, i wanted to have a Spanish option at school for my GCSE's as i would have actually used that. I don't plan on going to Germany, i don't plan on going to France or those weird parts of Canada that want to be french, whereas i do plan on going to Spanish speaking countries. That's why i got a low mark in German, i just couldn't give a damn about it

Hehe yup, that's the motivation on going to South America rather than Spain, far too many English people moving there now.

If i did learn Spanish i'd teach them that to obviously. Would set them up pretty good for life, i wish i had started learning them at a younger age

I'm use to it too :) I remember on chatrooms 10 years ago trying to chat to 6 people at once. Though I must admit it does seem weird seeing me reply to posts half way down the page :)
*hopes for GAD*
The fun part was the place was proper dodgy looking, we'd have to go down a back alley, turn to some flats and then go up 6 flights of stairs, knock on the door, hear all the bolts come off, getting rushed in then locked up again. You always thought the cops were going to burst through at any minute

I don't know why French and German is pushed more than Spanish in English schools but I think I would have liked to have had a choice and would likely have gone with Spanish. I mean come on, where do most Brits go for their holiday? France? :S Not likely.
There's so much material out for learning Spanish. I mean if you don't mind being naughty you could download 100s of hours of audio lessons and there are several podcasts on leanring Spanish. I think you're more interested in South America than Spain which I think is better. Id' love to spend a month or more down there and atleast there you won't be surrounded by Brits on holiday :)

I think I would go with umm English, Spanish and hmm probably Mandarin or Japanese, still not decided, I think Japanese students have a tough time learning Chinese.
