He's just arrived, has posted only in this topic and only about calling people sick and twisted for the September 11th games. A regular trying to prove something, perhaps? Or someone who searches the net searching for 9/11 controversy?
Ahem.

how can you say that!
what about people affected by nuclear war! then that means generals, red alert, Rise of nations, and many other games are SICK?! is THAT what you mean? HUH?

Right, how many games are there where we blow into various countries and go on a shooting spree ? Black Hawk Down, Delta Force, Delta Force 2, Delta Force Task Force Dagger, Every Rainbow Six game there is, countless mods for CS, Unreal, Rainbow six, Conflict Desert Storm- literally piles of games based on other disasters/conflicts around the world which impact on tens of thousands of people lives in other countries outside of the west every day, and have claimed millions of lives.
The real life loss of millions of lives is the basis for stacks of games, but those who lost their lives, luckily for western developers, live in places where gaming is rare if non existent, they are probably not aware in Mogadishu that we buy a game where we run around there country and city shooting them and their civlians. How many in Iraq know of Conflict Desert Storm, Desert Strike, Desert Fighter, and the fact their country has been featured as the evil enemy in a stack of games. Hitman 2 had one level withdrawn because of a Sikh protest about it, general reaction to that was that they were over reacting, yets it was a valid point that group protested. The GTA series, whilst being a satire, still depicts various crimes like car jackings, Rockstar's Manhunt looks to be delving even deeper into the area of crime, extreme sexual practices and so on,.
It's sick when it involves us, not sick when it involves the Other - the foreigner, certain religions, places that cannot know how they are used etc. That's plain wrong, it's either wrong to base any game on real life tragedy and war, or not sick to base any game on it, we cannot be picky about it. When I see someone protest about every game/mod that does similar I'll pay attention, until then I won't.

I'm sure they don't have sick intentions.
Sure, they've no understanding of what it takes to make a good game - but it's a free mod based around saving people and thus, in a way, foiling the terrorists. At least there's an outcome with some justice.
> Unbeliever if your parents or someone you loved had been killed in

No i wouldn't feel an injustice. It's a GAME. Yeah it might be based on real life events but at the end of the day it's only a game. Not real life. You want to feel offended by something like that? Fair enough. I'll feel offended at the real events in the world rather than a few sprite on a screen.
I think the most respectful game should engage the player with all the sides involved, within reason. For instance, the position the Taliban found themselves in - unable to capitulate to America, but ultimately (they had to, don't kid yourselves) knowing that they could never win against an allied force. Where Taliban fighters had previously foughtr the northern alliance in small skirmishes, they suddenly found themselves up against the best military force in the world - the US Army and allied units. A game that saw the player defedning a place like the capital in Afghanistan against overwhelming odds could be good, and it counters criticism that the game based arond 9/11 would be biased.
A good game could help more people to fully understand the full horror of it. Imagine if the level in the towers was unescapable, you'd race through the level against a timer, only to find there was no escape. Or if a sectio nwas based on Flight 93, where no matter how fast the terrorists are overwhelmed you cannot save the Flight. 9/11 became a series of events which condemned people to an untimely death, and a game could represent that.
