it has been announsed that both planes were hijacked from boston
I was shocked yesterday (still am) and I can't even imagine what it must be like for all involved in the US, family members of those who died, those who just survived and those who have to clean it all up. As for the idea of killing terrorism, I don't imagine that will ever happen, certain people just don't care for other innocent people or the damage and pain it causes.
We (as in the US, us and whoever else) should NOT just go and bomb the Arabs or whatever.
Ok, so they were cheering, when Arsenal beat Man U, I cheer. Not because I support Arsenal, but because I don't like Man U.
I know that example is a completely different context, but it's the best that I can think of while I'm still seeing picture of collapsing buildings and dieing people on the telly.
I agree that what happened today is horrific. I can sense a very little of what people in the US may think as I have a brother and a father who both work in London, and I was worried about them all afternoon until I manged to speak to them on the phone.
Blowing up whole country is not the answer to this.
Terroism is not one country, it's not one person, it's an idea. An idea that is kept alive by various leaders at various times.
If you kill the leader, another will his place, maybe tomorrow, maybe next month, maybe in 5 years time. Apart from that, you will also make a Martyr out of them. That will give the terrorists even greater cause. Make them believe they are doing right even more.
Everyone that kills believes that they are in the right. No one who kills ever thinks to themselves "I'm doing wrong here, but sod it, I'll do it anyway."
Everyone of the suicide pilots today would have thought they were doing right. They were working "For the good of the cause" or some pap like that.
The only way you can kill the idea of terrorism is to teach people to respect one another, to respect fellow humans (if that's what you can call us after todays display). Until people learn not to kill each other, then the idea of terrorism will prevail.
This situation needs to be handled very delicately. Yes, the US will find whoever is responsible. But I don't expect WW3 to occur along the way.
I know its a horrible thing to say but they have planned and executed an amazing plan. How many groups could have hoped to have pulled this off.
And for this reason we must retaliate. How can we sit back and just wait for it to happen again? The Americans will find out who did this and we will get them. It is an asult against democrocy and freedom and even humanity.
If it had been done at night, then it wouldn't have been as catastrophic, as it is now. Thats mainly due to the fact that everyone knew that as it was happening, people were still in the building, not able to get out, and then as it began to collapse, there was a greater sense of fear among everyone who was witnessing the event.
The main questions I myself have been thinking over in my head is...What happens now? Who will they try to blame in order to get answers? Is any country safe, even if they are allies with America?
I've been up watching CNN for most of the night, and they have managed to show amature footage, of about 8 people leaping from windows, which are about three quarters of the way up the building. As well as having more and more footage of the planes colliding with the towers, and most recently over the last hour, footage by a doctor who was about 300-500 yards away as the second building began to collapse.
But all I can do is hope for the lives of people I do not know, as there is nothing more I, nor the rest of the world outside of America can do, except watch as it all unfolds...
Hours after the incident and it STILL hasn't sunk in.
I'm still lost for words.
Goatboy: Truly sorry about what has happened , I know how it feels.
I've said in another thread, but it's probably gotten lost.
My thoughts are with you.
I have just read you post regarding your uncle. I am so, so sorry.
Meka:
As America's primary ally, we are already a massive target for these fanatics. While I don't like the idea of drawing more attention to ourselves, and while generally I do not like the man, I have to agree with what Bush is saying. Anyone who would shelter these people after such an event, and after saying that "we're sorry" and "it wasn't us", is as guilty as those who committed the act.
Whoever is sheltering them has a choice: hand them over, or face the obvious consequences.
They knew the towers would be full of people and
> thats what they wanted.
Exaclty.
Remember, they also did it at its busiest time, around 9am local time.
