I doubt it will reach a proper war. The main thing is that these terrorists do not care for Human life and what more noble cause is there than trying to protect life? Killing more people isn't going to stop killing since it itself would just perpetuate the problem. It must stop somewhere and I don't think that any US retaliation should use bombs and such. If the terrorists could be arrested then there would be no need for further innocents to die because killing innocents would just be the same as the attack on America. Unfortunately I don't think these terrorists can get it through their thick skulls that every one they killed was a Human being and most would be in no way involved in any sort of political agenda the terrorists may have had. Some people in the Pentagon may have been involved in the politics but most of the people who will have died will have been workers who are simply trying to earn a living in their country. Whatever the terrorists point I think they have failed miserably. A cruel regime they say, so is it okay to kill thousands of innocents to try and get some obscure point to American leaders which they haven't even admitted to or made yet. I think they really need to look at what they are doing and realise that they are the cruel and evil ones and that if they preach freedom they are merely fighting themselves. I know that whatever action the Americans take is their own decision but if I was one of the innocent people where the terrorists were I would certainly give them up if I could and I would know who to blame for any deaths of innocents, the terrorists and those who harbour them. If they are willing to give their lives for their cause and their people then they should surrender to the Americans in order to save the lives of those around them. Of course the worst thing is that they don't see all those innocent Americans, who had families and friends and lifes of their own, as people. They probably see them as capitalists and nothing more. "If you aren't with us you're against us" is a terrible attitude. These Americans were merely living and working in the country, this doesn't mean that they shared the same opinions as the government, this doesn't mean they have any control over the policies of the government and infact this is where the word innocent comes from. Chances are that the individuals killed had nothing to do with whatever the attack was for, whatever the point was that still hasn't been made. If the terrorists are looking for the people that deserve to die, they could start by killing themselves and giving their lives for the good of the Human race. It's people who see others as nothing more than their religion, location or whatever else that is the problem. They should learn that every individual was a Human being just as they are, just as their families are and just as all the people they are supposedly trying to "protect" are. All they will do is cause further death and they should know this full well. I say that the governments of the world should ask the terrorists to give themselves up in order to save their people from retaliatory attacks that will be launched against the terrorists and anyone considered to be a collaberator. The people who harbour these terrorists should listen to what was said about giving them up because it will be for the good of all people.

I just heard that a number of morning papers in the U.S have front page headlines such as:-

"IT'S WAR"

This doesn't bode well.

Whatever happened to 'live and let live?'

Holy War?

Bah. I suggest we have nothing more to do with any Middle East peace process, as our 'interference' clearly isn't appreciated.

From BBC.CO.U

But in a statement apparently sent from somewhere in Afghanistan and published by a Pakistani newspaper considered close to Mr bin Laden, the Saudi dissident has been quoted as saying that even if he was eliminated, such attacks were not going to stop.

He was reported to have praised what he called the courage of the suicide attackers, and thanked God.

Mr bin Laden said that "he had no hand in the bomb explosions that took place on 11 September in the United States, but he supports the attacks because they constitute a reaction of the oppressed people against the atrocities of the cruel", the Pakistani paper Ausaf reported.

He further said that he was committed to Jihad or Holy War against the "anti-Islamic forces".

'Innocents ignored'

He claimed dozens of known fighters and other experts were with him and were willing to give their lives for what he described as a "noble cause".

Mr bin Laden said "the United States would get nothing out of eliminating one Osama as there were several Osamas," the paper reported.

The paper said: "When he was told that most of the people killed in the attacks were innocent, he said the same was the case with the Muslims killed in Palestine. He asked why that was being ignored."

However, BBC World Affairs Correspondent John Simpson said that there was "not a lot of doubt" that Mr bin Laden was involved.

I certainly would not want to be an Arab living in the US at the moment.

I know what you mean. But I've heard some people on here, and Americans on the radio saying "This is war, this is worse than PEarl Harbour, we should blow 'em all up" etc etc.

What I'm saying is, yes, they should get a damn good kicking, but just wading in with your big size 15's isn't really going to help matters.

YH, despite possibly not wording it very well in yesterday's post, I never meant to suggest that all Arab land should be bombed. My reference to 'these people' was intended to mean the terrorists (from all nations) and not Arabs in general.

As I've said elsewhere, though, any nation - Arab or otherwise - found to be sheltering these people is equally guilty, and should be dealt with with 'extreme prejudice' (as they say).
