It's nice to follow it from time to time... here is some good news regarding Nintendo's recent Christmas assault. It is an article printed in Computerandvideogames where a discussion arises about Microsoft's hopes of winning the Christmas war:

Microsoft, by way of announcing its Xbox strategy for Christmas in the UK, has revealed today that there will be no immediate axe taken to the retail price of the console before 2004.

Expectations were high following Nintendo's slashing of GameCube to £79.99 that Microsoft would follow with a price cut of its own prior to Christmas, especially since Nintendo's machine has begun to outsell the Xbox for the first time in months (2 to 1).

However, Microsoft has instead chosen to place its yuletide hopes in a bundle that features the console, Halo and Midtown Madness 3 and a voucher for two months' subscription to Xbox Live. This Xbox bundle will retail for £139.99, on shelves from today.

Industry watchers will be following Sony's, Nintendo's and Microsoft's Christmas fortunes in the UK closely, in particular the clash between GameCube and Xbox.

While Sony is in an unassailable position and likely to do very well with EyeToy this Christmas, Nintendo is looking stronger than it has for some time, sales likely to be driven further by the arrival of Mario Kart: Double Dash!! on November 14. Let the battle commence.

Hmmmm exciting.

Yes because I have played Soldier of Fortune 2 on LIVE for quite a while since getting it and am yet to have one crash, serious lag or any errors.

Do you think that the LIVE experience will be any different to what you already played for 500 hours?

Perhaps because the game was very good despite all the crashes, stack errors, stack overflows, illegal program errors etc etc.

I never said it didn't.

I was just wondering why you played it for 500 hours if it was so riddled with errors.

Did I actually say I played it all on my PC? Played it a lot at a friends house without errors only to return home and get the same errors. LIVE makes PC online gaming look really bad.

If the errors were that bad, you would have given up after 5 hours, not kept playing for 500. Unless you enjoyed the pain.

And the errors weren't necessarily to do with the game or the network, it could have been your PC.

*ahem* I have to leave now on a totally unrelated matter.

We know what you mean, he was just pointing out something that was funny, so don't take it to personally.

If it was so rubbish why did you play it for 500 hours?
