With all this debate about carbon emissions, how long will it be before some bright spark decides that millions of nice little doggies are only good for turning food into poo, and emitting carbon?

Will we be forced to turn on the animals and expunge them in their droves, or what better ways are there to reduce carbon emissions?

Oh, you want a serious answer? Well since natural sources of Methane and Carbon Dioxide have been around since animals roamed the Earth, the levels (though far greater than man-made emissions) are sustainable through nature (photosynthesis for example) and are required to protect us from UV radiation. Our additions, however, on a world-wide scale are tipping the balance.

Animal emissions are included in this, but this is also a man-made situation, less so with pets but more with livestock (cows in particular). With a growing population, the livestock grows and is artifically extended, creating even greater risk to the balance of nature.

Basically, we're all doomed unless we have a big war, wipe out half the population of the earth and then those that are left live in harmony with nature, calling themselves 'petal' or 'rosebud' and dancing around trees naked.

If it yaps then it can be shot.
