So basically what I want to know is what kind of costs are involved and if there are any other cables/accessories I need to buy.

It can be less than £120... Cost me only £20 (so far).
Free trial with a game. I got no router because i don't mind not being able to do both at the same time. £10 on the broadband so far (dad pays a bit, and i pay the rest) and a long ethernet cable to reach to my room.
