I don't just mean staying up late.
I mean not being physically able to sleep.
Being awake at 5am knowing you have to be at work in 3hrs and spending the day in a daze.

Makes you forgetful and ratty.
You get all the usual advice "Dont drink caffeine/read before you sleep/take a herbal remedy/try getting into a routine" but they don't work.

Still, best time of day to be awake.
The place is quiet, no traffic, no noisy neighbours, no incessant buzzing from the tv.

Just me, the computer and music.

Could be worse.

Fortunately I am relatively unqualified on the subject of insomnia sleep the "sleep of the just" or braindead most nights. Only time I have trouble sleeping is when I'm stresed. Only suggestions I have is quit caffiene at least 4 hours before you try to kip. Also avoid alcahol - it really does disrupt sleep. Gets you off to sleep nicely and then messes you around for the rest of the night. Apparently one of the first things alcaholics experience when the dry out is dreams. Alcahol messes up your REM and capacity to dream or is it to remember dreams?
Sorry I don't have anything more insightful or useful to add.

You know, TV and computers actually stimulate some-part-of-the-brain (sorry to get so technical), whihc actually makes you more awake. Try reading instead.

Tough Luck

IN the last 3 months I have been gettting best sleep of my life... don't need those bloody tablets now. Sorry like rubbing salt in the wounds.

What I heard is... well sleep is a strange thing, and some wacky dirty hippie scientists say sleep is only R.E.M (rapid eye movement) so you could be in bed for 12 hours asleep as you call it but sometimes only get 2-3 hours R.E.M, and it is possible to go to bed for 3 hours and get same amount of sleep as someone who thinks they go 12... although the other 9 does relaxe the mind and body etc.

What the fun did I just write? :-)

4:14am and no sign of sleep approaching at all.

Tried reading, listening to music etc.

Up at 7am to take girlfriend to Reading.
This sucks, it really does.

I'm 14 and I get 5 hours sleep maximum everyday. I need to see a Dr. I just can't get to sleep every night. You'll find me posting on here til 4 everyday then posting again at 9 the next morning.

Can honestly say I'm not missing a single thing.

Everyhing in my life is as it should be.
Got me a top woman, nice mates, excellent band and my job doesn't matter because it's jus somewhere I go to get paid.

Dunno really.
00:38 and got back from rehearsals.
Have adrenalin still running, not at all tired.
Last night went to bed at 4:14am, woke up at 7am for work.

*sigh*
I think I've averaged about 3-4hrs a night for the past month or so. And it's getting me down to be honest.

Why can't I sleep? I don't have any worries, I just lay there in bed and can't nod off. Just staring at the ceiling.
So I end up here and other forums, just taking a mind-crap.
Ah well, what can you do?

I'm off downstairs to watch Casino.

I have trouble sleeping... I'm not as bad as you Goatboy, and I certainly wouldn't call it insomnia...

But one thing I've learned is that if you can't sleep, it's because you're missing something, mentally. There is something in your life that is not what you want it to be, usually job, sometimes lover, other times anything.

just give in and let your body take control. It will all even out in the end. The law of averages an all. Just have to train yourself a bit.
