Anyone seen the first pics of the new Zelda game yet?

No?

Go seek them out, I won't tell you where to look, you can make a game out of it or something.

Okay, have you looked now?

Good.

What did you think?

Looks very, very cartoony indeed, doesn't it?

How much can change in a year hey!

Remember last years Zelda video, featuring Link and Ganondorf fighting. It looked nothing like this at all!

One thought has entered my head, and I'll let you in on it, it's a bit messy, but that's the best you'll get!

Remember SNES Zelda, which featured two worlds, which you could cross between?

Remember Ocarina of Time, in which you could go to two different worlds as adult Link and young Link?

Remember Majora's Mask, in which you could take on different forms by wearing different masks?

Now what if the new Zelda game allows Link to play as an adult, as seen at last years Spaceworld, but also in this cartoon form that is being shown now?

Zelda games always seem to have something major like this, and the vast differnces between the graphical styles would be an extraordinary contrast, and a very odd gameplay experience!

But hey, maybe I'm wrong, maybe this game has taken on the role of an 'interactive cartoon'. I can't wait to see some videos to see what it looks like in-game, as the screenshots released so far aren't fo great quality, and you can't judge too much.

At the moment GAMECUBE Zelda is scheduled for an Xmas 2002 release in Japan, so we might see it in the summer of 2003!

Hopefully it will be worth the wait, and there's plenty of other games to keep us busy until then!

Well, they wouldn't make the game Max Payne style realistic would they? They are maybe trying a more cartoony angle, but I expect it'll be looking the same as previous Zelda games have. They all look essentially the same anyway, just with new angles, colours and 3Dism. As they say, it's the gameplay that will matter. Of course, the graphics could affect the gameplay, so that might be a problem.

Well I finally got to see the video last night, and I have to say that I'm highly impressed by this.

The animation is simply outstanding.

It looks like the game will stick with the 'z' targetting method from the N64, but it looks like Link has more abilities like flipping over opponents,or rolling between their legs.

I can't wait to see more of this game now!

Well....I am pleased at the Video of Zelda, the Hyrule overworld theme has made it back again after Majorahs Mask and of course Links distinctive voice.
The Graphics are all cell shaded and indeed the atmosphere is very detailed and believable.
But, But...Links face!!!!! Whats went wrong there??
I thought the guy had BLUE EYES and a little ear ring and he has always retained his familiar features throughout the Saga but here on GC=NO!.
If they change the guys face, ill be 100% happy with the game.
But of course we are all told not to moan, as Miyamoto categorically stated that the game will have a release date sometime before Christmas 2002 and he stated also that the Game is in VERY early stages and no where near finished.
So we have hope yet of the Elfs face.
The Video is amazing though and the crowd reaction says it all.

Apparently the game is already delayed as the previous Zelda incarnation (not Majora's Mask, but Ocarina of Time) was very late. Therefore, the schedule has pushed back the GC version of Zelda. So the curse of the N64 is still looming over the GC, despite a change of format and greater developer support.

Would this have anything to do with the fact that it's on a Nintendo console and not a Sony console?

"Shocking new images of Zelda on the Gamecube - it's weird and you won't believe your tired eyes!"

Well, that's about right. I CAN'T believe my eyes. How could Nintendo do this.

It may be okay if it is like you think Meka. If this is only half (or hopefully less) of the game. I just can't believe that Nintendo have chosen to do it on a Zelda game. This is the game that I most want(ed) to play on the GC and now they've done this. I wouldn't mind if they had made a completely new game and tried this new graphic style on that but doing it on their most popular game. How could they do this to me?

I know I'm gonna get criticised for this post as their are probably people who like the idea (i've not read the rest of the replies yet) but this is my view and I am one seriously annoyed Ninty.

Thank you, nice to be recognised. Why don't I have any capitals in my name? I try but they always come out small. My e-mail is the same, though there's reason for that I'm told. Anyway, a good Zelda game would be good (unsurprisingly), almost as good as a Mario RPG (heh, Wrench usage)

Link just doesn't get the respect he deserves, they even let you change his name. Tell me though, do you look like a little elf child who wears a green tunic and funny green hat?
