It won't launch on 5th November as planned, but the 18th.
It's only two weeks, but it does put it AFTER the Xbox release.
The reason is to ensure there are plenty of 'CUBE's on the shelves.

The Japanese system hasn't been delayed, and that launch is only about 3 weeks away, so there's obviously not a major problem. If anything it could be to allow the Japanese more consoles for launch, and having an extra two weeks will allow them to move some that were due for the USA to Japan, and produce a few more units for the USA launch.
As the USA promotion hasn't started yet, the delay won't even be noticed by those that don't cruise the internet looking for such information.
If Microsoft could make a big deal of it, "sick of delays? Get an Xbox!" they might get a few more sales, but as they don't have any real killer aps for launch, I doubt they'll sway too many opinions.
It won't affect any UK launch plans, as nothing past 'Spring 2002' has been confirmed, so if they did push any date back, we wouldn't notice.

I don't know about you, but I wouldn't save up £200 to go and buy a Gamecube, enter a shop, see what I want isn't there and buy an Xbox. That would be stupid, I'd just wait a couple of weeks.
