It won't launch on 5th November as planned, but the 18th.

It's only two weeks, but it does put it AFTER the Xbox release.

The reason is to ensure there are plenty of 'CUBE's on the shelves.

Hmmm.

More later.

The thing is, I can't imagine anyone struggling to make a choice between the 'CUBE and the XBox.

They just seem so completely different in terms of what games will be available.

Maybe it's just me that sees it that way?

In my eyes this can only work against Nintendo. There might have been a substantial number of people with $350 clutched in their tight little mits that saw a GC running and gave in to temptation. However, most prospective GC buyers might only have saved up $200-$250, so they can't give in to temptation. I think that most of the undecideds will sway to the Xbox, whilst 99.9% of Ninties will stay with the GC.

Hmmmm, the 'Cube has been delayed, yes? Yet the fact it's won't put anyone off. Why?

Because buying a console is the bloke equivalent of girly shopping.

If you're a Ninty, and you hear about the new console, you get all excited. You loved your N64, you love the style of games, and you want more.

You decide to buy a 'Cube.

Like girly shopping. They want a new dress (or whatever), they get all excited about buying new clothes. They know what they want. Something similar to what they have already, they know what they like, and want a similar style. They decide to go back to their favourite shop to buy the dress.

Console owner hears about the XBox, they are tempted, the specs look good, there are some good titles lined up. It's definately an option.

Girly hears about a new clothes shop, apparently it has the kind of stuff she may like.

Console owner decides to find out a bit more about the XBox.

Girly decides to go ALL OVER TOWN WITH ME IN TOW, MISSING THE FOOTBALL, ONLY TO GO BACK TO THE VERY FIRST SHOP, AND BUY THE VERY FIRST THING WE LOOKED AT!

Ninty looks into buy an XBox, decides against it, and goes for the 'Cube, happy in his choice.

See?

Obviously not, though I now realise that it was only to get me chased around the car park by Mr. Blobby.

Bloody hell, news overload or what.

Anyway the Gamecube is coming out in Black for the US launch. Is this anything to do with the Delay?

exactly. People who had saved for a GC would be unlikely to buy a x-box instead becasue it costs $100 extra for a start. And mybe they would have saved up a bit for a few GC games, it would be very stupid to buy a x-box instead becasue they wouldnt have any money for X-box games.
