And the reason? Because prices are fixed, meaning that something that costs $50 there costs £50 here. Nothing to do with the strength of the ecconomy... the UK market is just a cartel- keeping prices high

You've converted that using the exchange rate though. You need to compare it to the cost of living, IE what $50 is worth. It may exchange to £35 but in reality it's actually worth about £50.
Honestly the sort of Market Microsoft are aiming the console at has already been claimed by PS2, I can't see them suceeding.
I would prefer the X-Box to come out after the GC cause then Nintendo would have the upper edge. But this wont effect the Eurpoue or Japan relast dates so it isn't so bad for us.
