don't know if anyone else is interested, but there's a new album out called "Boy Playground" which is an album of dance music programmed using Gameboy software and sounds. i got my copy yesterday and it's excellent.
anyone into their chip music or wanting a misty-eyed trip down the 8-bit path should add it to their collection :)
also, http://www.8bitpeoples.com have got a LOAD of similar stuff for free mp3 download, and their christmas album is pretty damn good too! :)
Nah, back in those days, fancy gadgets like 'Hard Drives' were unknown to me. I went for the 'play for 5 minutes then insert another disc' approach. :D
It got to be a pain, as some games (like mortal kombat) had about 7 discs, which is no joke. The amiga kind of lost its practicality at that stage, to me anyway.
unless you tried to install it on your faithful amiga, whereby it created all manner of problems for you, but that was sadly the case with most early bullfrog games, especially Theme Park as i remember....
great looking and atmospheric though, as you say, a lot like blade runner.
Taking a group of cyborg killing machines through futuristic cities to kill other cyborg killing machines with Mini-Guns, and Gauss Cannons was a lot of fun.
I even remember the beginning sequence - they 'recruited' people by running people over in the street, bundling them into the boot, then replacing their damaged limbs with prosthetic ones.
Very Blade-Runner-esque atmosphere to it.
i know this is in no way "retro" music, but i have to say i think the music for Viewtiful Joe is glorious. the fact that the game only has one piece of music throughout and not once did it grate on me is a HUGE testament to how good it is. catchy, vibrant and fits the style perfectly.
2nd only to FInal Fantasy 7 ;)
Mind you zool was pretty god in the music department and secerts of mana's music (especially boss fights) was brilliant. Pushover had a wide variety of music (Good?)
Anyone remember fade to black?
Great music at the end. But one of the best music has to be Deus ex!
As for Twilight Zone, that could be Star Light Zone in Sonic 1.
> Anyway, back on the subject of retro music, I'm a total Sonic nut.

which game was the twighlight zone in?? the casino level??
i think it was SOnic 2, that had great music!
