The "Sony Games" forum, which includes Retro Game Reviews, has been archived and is now read-only. You cannot post here or create a new thread or review on this forum.
No, it won`t be as lond as the FOG version.
Why am I trying it out anyway?
The PS2 forum is a very interesting place to be, but it can also be a little quiet. I though perhaps if we had a topic with several hundred replies lurking at the top, things would look more popular.
Feel free to use the topic to talk about anything. Either the latest PS2 game, latest ideas for including some female star in a game etc... or even just the usual chat that happens all over.
As I expect this to fail, I`ve decided to spend a little while pushing up the replies. No spamming, just lots of nonsense :-)
Any help would be great, it`d be boring to have a whole topic with replies from only me.
I've obviously missed lots.
Jive - thanks ever so much for all the help and info you've given me so far, I really appreciate it and your patience.
I've just found and used 'edit post' for my last message - it's brilliant!

Yes, on several occasions, but I have little idea what exactly I am looking for so I can't tell.

Ouch! I know I'm a technophobe but I did know what OS stood for. Three and a half years into a generic computing degree and I can now claim I know something: D
I'm running windows XP.

Didn't know I had them or how to utilise them :(
I've been browsing the internet on and off since you posted this in an effort to alleviate my ignorance. I found some info which I wish I'd look for before sitting my networking exam.
However I found this http://www.wown.com/j_helmig/wxpadcon.htm and the second picture down looks like my computer so at least I'm happy that I do have a NIC.
One less thing to worry about.

Good :)

Right, have you spun your computer round and looked at the rear to see whether the computer has an onboard NIC? What OS (Operating System) are you running?

Looking at the link for the router, "Connex" would be right as it's got the Conexant Chipset in it.

Yep I've looked at that site and the explanation of how to set it all up. I'm still confused as to why your running this over USB, personally I'd be running this via ethernet as it's far superior. You've got ethernet ports so why not use them?
Thanks, I did enjoy my night out :)

That's what I undertook it to mean but if my understanding is correct it means that the computer DOES have a NIC as it is listed in device manager.

Hope this works http://uk.special.reserve.co.uk/q_GG9852_adsl_broadband_com.html
I believe the box it came in says etec and it shows on the computer as something like 'connex' but I can't rightly remember and I cannot find it again on the web site you gave me.
With reference to connections :)

Scroll just before half way down the page for USB modem. This is how the paperwork supplied with modem instructed me to do it and I confirmed it from this site.

Heh ... no problem, I've just finished one episode and decided to check back here :)

Unusual setup, it's usual to install a NIC as this is what the router is designed primarily to attach computers to / with.

Yeah I saw your information below, I take it that was reading across? I think it was .... basically what that is saying is, you've got a LAN, with a network cable that's not connected to the Realtek RTL8139 family PCI Fast ethernet NIC.
What is the make of your router?
You've also said above, that you now have two entries in this area. This is because you've plugged the router into another USB port, the main reason why USB is so rubbish! Oh and another reason to use the ethernet cable and connect to a NIC.

That would be because you haven't bought a NIC and installed it :)
Have a good night and I'll speak to you tomorrow.
Computer - router via USB cable, tried on more than one socket to ensure that isn't at fault.
Haven't installed a NIC - info I gave was already listed under connections and is not the same as the connection for broadband (as I now have two listings under LAN)
Received RJ45 cable with router pack and identified it as such using the link to the web site you gave me. I can easily see where it would connect to the router for a network but there is nowhere on my computer that I could connect the other end to.
Did you install a NIC (Network Interface Card) into your computer when you received your pack?
Have you also got a network cable, it has an RJ45 connection on either end, it looks like a telephone jack that you plug into the modem but is bigger and has 8 cables inside it? It has an RJ45 connection either end.
Sorry I haven't replied so quickly, I was watching The Shield.
Okay here goes. I disconnected everything before I turned on the computer and then turned the router on again and connected it to the computer. Pinged it, all okay but I'm still getting no dial tone.
I set up a new connection for the BT login test (was that the correct way to do it?) and it still says no dial tone.
The only thing I may be slightly concerned about is not having a NIC but according to current network connections (I'm on Windows XP) under LAN or high speed internet I already had the following details:
Local Area Connection
Network Cable Unplugged
Realtek RTL8139 family PCI
Fast ethernet NIC
I'm taking that to mean that I do have a NIC even though there is nowhere on my computer to plug in the RJ45 cable.
So I'm now waiting on the BT engineer arriving Friday :(
