However you're just basing that on the fact Rockstar would make a GTA movie with all the ideas from previous gangsta films. Who's to say they wouldn't come up with original ideas for the film and make something we haven't seen before in any gangsta film??

I reckon that if they got a good director, a quality Star cast, great storyline and amazing SFX then they could make a decent GTA Film. but how often do you get all that in 1 film. The Matrix Films and Austin Powers Films are the only ones i can think of.

Which they did with Resident Evil.

That's where the concepts of pastiche and parody usually prevent the lawyers from getting involved.

I doubt it'd be illegal since those films were based on true crimes and real people. You can't own the copyright on a stereotype.

That wouldn't be so bad.

The thing I thought would never work was when you said base it on the Mafia story line of GTA3.

Yes, that's exactly my point.

You're just back at square one and it's ridiculous.

yes but what i meant meant was that there wouldn't be much point in doing a movie on a game that has influences from other films

as well as a real war 3(

yeah but in that sense it would mean a film would take game references from a game that took film references to make the game.

You're missing the point.

It's stupid to turn a game based on a film back into a film. It'd be so incredibly similar to Goodfellas and The Godfather that it may even be on the brink of illegal.
