Anything from their early, grungy metal to their present upbeat / uplifting rock. They have contributed to Rock music things that other bands can only dreaming of. By writing their own lyrics and music, only doing live performences and playing their own instruments they put teeniebopper favourite's "S Club 7" in their place.
Having added numerous awards worldwide including "Greatest Heavy Metal Band Album of 1997" for their debut full album "Polythene."
Named the best Live band around, they overwhelm onlookers at festivals and concerts worldwide including in Japan, U.S.A, Germany, Italk, France, Spain and of course, The U.K.
No matter what mood, circumstance or emotional condition you're in, there's always a Feeder song to suit your situation. From the uplifting catchiness of Top 5 hit "Buck Rogers" to the moving and inspirational "Yesterday Went Too Soon."
Whether you like Rock, Pop, Metal, Indie, or Nu Metal, Feeder has a place in their Kingdom for you, and your dinner table is waiting for you to be uplifted by the bands amazing musical talent.
To summarise... God Save Feeder.
Yeah its good but I actually missed out Hole in my Head :D
Firstly, Andy, you're right, Yesterday Went Too Soon is Feeder's greatest. Noticed Insomnia wan't on your top 3. AAAAAARGH! Are you insane?!?! Kidding! Just saying though, it's worth listening to. Don't know anyone who donesn't like that song.
OK misterhappy, you "Feeder fan" you.
Feeder ARE A class act, and they have in NO way betrayed their routes. So they made a couple of lighter songs (Buck Rogers and Seven Days In The Sun) but they came back with "Turn," a much more meaningful and engrossing song that, I'm sure you'll be happy to know, did terrible in the charts (you seem to think that for a band to get credit, thye must have no success). And besides, I don't here you bitching about Insomnia! What a class song, and it's a little lighter in the rock department, yet to most true Feeder fans, it's Feeder's greatest release. Is it that you just don't like light-rock, or summer-rock? Feeder still play the U.K, Feeder constantly give up their U.S, Japanese, German, italian, French, even bloomin Estonian success to come back to tour the U.K. They DON'T claim to be anything that what they are. Back onto the subject of betraying their routs, I'm guessing that you didn't buy CD2 of Turn. If you listen to / watch their "Making Of Echo Park" interview, you'll see that they had Gil Norton for their producer. He wanted to add TONNES of electronic effects, brighter lyrics, and an overall more "pop" sound to the album, but Grant wouldn't let him, hence their tonnes of arguments with Gil. Grant stuck to his vision rather than moving to a Pop enviroment. He says something like "...I'm glad we stook to our vision, because if we'd have gone with Gil's and used a pop sound, we could get a lot more success, but we don't want to be easy on ourselves..."
I'll make a more thourough bashing of your Feeder comments tomorrow, right now I gotta get my stuff for school ready for tomorrow.
A member of the avalanches jumped off a speaker stack and broke his leg. He continued to play with the broken leg and was then rushed to hospital as soon as the band finished.
Casey Chaos from US punk band 'Amen' has chronic lung problems and plays tour date after tour date despite constant pain. He also tried to play on after jumping off a speaker stack and knocking himself out on the ceiling.
But to top it all off... The drummer from Def Leppard only has one arm, I mean you don't get much more rock 'n' roll than that do you?! Broken cheekbones.. pah, others laugh in the face of feeder's injuries!
The reason High did so well is that it was on a movie soundtrack. There's nothing wrong with that. My favourite band of the moment 'Jimmy Eat World' got their break when 'Lucky Denver Mint' was put on the 'Never Been Kissed' Soundtrack. But such things show how meaningless chart success is. You can listen to bands who are leagues and leagues ahead of Five yet who gets the number one? And when absolute drivel like the rhombus-faced Sophie Ellis-Bextor gets to number one you really have to ask if a chart position counts for anything.
It's my opinion that Feeder's latest stuff has been entirely bland and hackneyed, Buck Rogers has no meaning please do not try to justify that song's lyrics. Yes it is a catchy song but it is just that. Personally I like music with meaning, I like Feeder too because many of their songs have meaning but Buck Rogers has none whatsoever. Maybe that's its point. A sideways swipe at the meaningless pop crap that charts highly. If you can sing about lemons and devon and chart where Buck Rogers did then maybe all it needed was to get rid of the good musical bits and it would have cruised in at number one.
Do yourself a favour.. Download stuff off Weezer's first album, "The Undone Sweater Song", "Say it Ain't So". Get some songs by "Jimmy Eat World". There comes a time when you have to leave a band to trundle along in relative anonymity and find something fresh and exciting. I do like Feeder but I think they've betrayed their roots. If they wrote another YWTS I would welcome them back with open arms. I don't think it's likely though as which album has done better, Echo Park or YWTS? Echo Park has. Which root are they going to choose, success or good songs? Oh what's that? Success and good music aren't linked.. what is happening to the taste in music?
