2nd Edit: Ok, they *DO* all work now. So shuddup :p
> What do you mean since when?
Since when have Nintendo been the masters of the deathmatch?
Closest thing I can think of that slightly resembles a deathmatch is battle mode in Mario kart.
Ah well, we'll have to wait until May.
I believe Retro is pulling off a first person Samus beautifully. And that she is one of Nintendo's premier characters... not least for appearing in 2 third person outings on the GBA, appearing in the Gamecube regularly in her own game...
And look now you can even shoot her in a deathmatch mode.

Ever hear of bots?

That's a good idea.

But they announced multiplayer a while ago.
And why would there be fake shots in a respectable magazine?

Hmmm...
You CAN see the visor selection thingamy...
But no gun?
Even when a weapon was changing you could see a glimpse of something...
It mgith be real but I hope not! :-P

In the first person you don't even see her.
Characters you can see get idolised.
Sonic
Link
Mario
Lara Croft
Samus
Solid Snake
Donkey Kong
Rare can afford to change Jo Dark's appearance every time the use her because all anyone can remember is that she's a woman in a black suit.
What made Goldeneye feel like James Bond?
It was more the death scene's blood trickle and music more than anything during the actual game.
Half Life, Doom, Deus Ex, Unreal, all classics but are their characters that memorable? Not the ones you play as atleast.
Turok?
People wouldn't really recognise his picture.
Just his voice shouting "I am Turok!".
In a first person game, Samus might as well not be there.
All you see is her arm.
You get a glimpse of her in cutscenes and when you roll into ball, but other than that you just see the world around you.
Now I know what you're saying is that Samus isn't ALL gone, but she's hardly ALL there. And remember how you found Metroid Prime a real bore unless you were exploring a new area?
Did you have that sort of boredom with Mario Sunshine?
I didn't and I got bored of it LONG before you did! :-)
Anyway, the pics are fake so you can agree with me again. :-)

Nein, the bottom pic is of the Samus in the top picture looking at the Morph-balled Samus. I reckon. Owen agrees.
Look at the multiplayer one.
2 are morphballing.
2 are standing.
The two standing are right in front of each other, yet in one of the morph ball pics we can see one Samus standing on her own with no others near her.
There are two things that can make Metroid Prime 2 the king of this gen's multiplayer:
1 - the first third person deathmatch that actually works.
It works because the aiming is lock on so you just choose who to lock on to and then you use your manauvering skills and master of Samus' moves to take on your opponent.
Mastering the moves rather than mastering the headshot - a new epxerience.
2 - Taking a leaf out of Turok's book and letting you play as most characters from the game (some, like the Mushrooms and Suicide Bats are no go's for obvious reasons! :-D).
Being able to play as a Space Pirate or a Metroid would put a whole new spin on the game, just like being a Raptor did on Turok.
Seeing as the pics are fake, you don't have to defend Nintendo and can agree with me this time Dringo, because it might well be what they're actually doing! ;-)
In fact I see it as a promising idea.
Samus appears left right and centre, with a whole host of cut scenes etc... in first person.
I see what you mean from a gameplay perspective... but your point about a "cool Nintendo character" is invalid as I believe even in first person Samus fits that role perfectly.
