2nd Edit: Ok, they *DO* all work now. So shuddup :p
Halo 2 might offer 32 (I thought it was 16, Mr. Tiltawhirl....) players and all the vehicles and bells and whistles, true, and I'll probably get it.
But this is Metroid Prime 2. True 'you can see the same screen', but have you forgotten how to play with friends in the same room? It's just terrific fun. MP2 single player will beat H2 anyday, (of course, I hated Halo SP, so I'm biased...but y'know). It is an odd departure for Metroid, but how can it be a bad thing?
If I was really desperate to play massive shooters, I'd buy UT2004 rather than playing SSBM and Monkey Ball, TS2 and other Cube games with my friends.
You can see her rolling around.
That's it.
Sure, a couple of jumps in cutscenes but nothing proper.
And even the with the morphball, if you're trying to use it practically it's a pain because the camera change disorientates you and freezes the controls for a second.
It's been designed for morphball mode and normal mode.
No seamless working between the two.
If you land in the lava in a morphball, you have to wait a couple of seconds of dying for the camera to work itse;f into FPS mode again.
And althougth the morphball is ONE of her cool moves, it's not THAT much on it's own, I mean it's good but...
Not that I'm putting down Prime, it's just the game is better suited to a third person view, even if it's only optional.
That way you CAN use Samus' full range of moves and movement fluently if you wish, and if you don't then you can continue playing through Samus' eyes.
Like Joanna she gets a hell of a lot of air time, I'm always switching into that bloody ball.
The lock-on targeting, hunting and manauvering, that makes perfect sense in third person. Metroid Prime was a third person game in a first person view. And it won't compete with an FPS multiplayer because they've been designed to make the very best of a First Person View.
The multiplayer, if anything, will be an interesting deviation from the standard. It would've worked better in third person view though.
Punters love their games characters and Samus is one of the coolest ever.
They wouldn't care about the main game if they could just do a couple of spin jumps and wall kicks, and roll around an emeny while locked on...

Who says Metroid 2 won't have massive levels, and tons of different game modes. If you want a 32 player online FPS with vehicles, get UT2004 now, it'll probably be much better than the over-hyped sexed up "Halo 2", which will probably be just as unoriginal and bland as the last.

Your right! I'm wrong! sorry and thanks for correcting me! I WANT THIS GAME NOW! Multiplayer Metroid= Excellent!
It's a multiplayer mode for what was previously one of the finest Single player games in existance...
Tell me how is this a bad thing?

Since when?
It sounds a lot like Splinter Cell 2 multiplayer to me. Hardly gonna be a tense hunt when you can just look at your opponents screen though is it?
A game of hunt, where you are required to use your various visors in an attempt to hunt down your opponent and kill them. Trying to leave as little clues behind as possible.
Of course any developer with half a brain will know to remove lock on targeting.
Nintendo are the masters of the deathmatch.
