After due consideration here are the results.

Everybody wants User Profiles.

RBS says lean some of the GAD prizes towards lesser forums to boost them and he suggests we include a "what's going on in the forums" or "forum news" somewhere.

Gaming Boy would like to see more input from the staff to start topics and kick-start discussion.

Grix suggests we have a tournament where we all download game to our PC and play against each other.

er-no wants a "who is here" link. You click on it and it tells you the names of most recent posters (good idea). And er-no wants the Notables to be given something to do (a request which I have just complied with in Chat forums)

TheBest_2K1 is keen on putting people in a hot seat. Everybody fires questions at the poor so...

Quazimodo would like links to your "Latest Post" and your web site url in your stats window (excellent).

Meka would like us to hold a song contest and have counters to see how many people have read a thread. pb backs this up with a similar request on reviews.

Cookie Monster suggests a Cluedo-style murder mystery event.

Dan2K1 would like on-line darts.

Dringo is keen to repeat some "Opposite Posts" - I believe this is intended to be head to head challenges on specific arguments.

Chr!stos says we should sometimes vote for Gameaday winners, instead of them being always picked by staff.

Salevunit suggested a Winning Posts Forum (view only), plus Tag of the Day competitions, Search Facilities and Caution Tags. The latter is a particularly strong suggestion, i.e. to give warning tags to people likely to face a ban.

BUT THE WINNER IS:
The prize is for the best SET of suggestions. The winner is SHEEPY for the following ideas:

FOG Lotto
Round Number Prizes (e.g. at 10,000 posts in a forum)
"Number Day" I think this means we would all be anonymous.
Vote people off the forums Big Brother style (love that).
Guess the Phantom Poster.
Complaint Button (already in place now with the report link)
Improve the message filter and the feedback from it.

Contratulations SHEEPY and I hope you enjoy munching your prize.

Thank you again to all those who contributed and sorry not to be able to mention everybody.

*********

These were the original rules.

This latest EXTRA GAMEADAY is for the best SET of suggestions for "adding life" to the forums.

Imagine that you are in charge of the forums. What would you do to start some interesting debate or to make the place more interesting?

Please DO NOT suggest things which require (much) programming. And don't suggest a chart of Gameaday winners as it is already being sorted.

We already have:
Top Posters chart
Notable/Regular/Newbie system with 'orrible colours
Voting for Notables
Extra Gameaday Prizes
Protected "Prime Topics" forum
"Stats" for history on contributors
Taglines

Closing date is August 1st or shortly thereafter, and it's the best set that wins. All the posts that you make will count towards your set.

Well we have the lovely pop up box with our names and stats in it (along with advert :D) and the amusing taglines... I was wondering why doesn't every user create a profilr for themselves, including the normal stuff..

Nickname
Real Name if you want... RBS could tell you all anyway :D
Age
Quotes
Likes
Dislikes
Comments on SR
Favourite Games
Fav forums
Fav topics
Most likely to say:
No. of GADs and FADs
Homepage
Picture

You get the deal... Maybe some regulars or notbales could post something new that has happened this week on FOG... like a diary etc.

Hmmm this is more like site improvemenst D'OH

No it would bring for life to forums if you get my drift :D

Right heres the deal, its a long shot but could be fun and cause some interest.

Every so often... no make that 7 days in the month the 'notables' get to pick the Gameaday and Filmaday winners... or maybe just 7 times a year, once for each.

It is maybe contrevershal (sp) but as notbales are we not meant to be loyal, truated users :D. Go on it would be fun... of course they would be very strict rules, maybe such as.

Well that day that notable does not pick himself to win, or any other notable (oh I like that one). They remain annoyamus (sp) and nobody else knows except staff and them... they must keep that to their death or maybe the next day :D. It means talking issue of days ahead and after... who is picking it? Many a post of why did I not win?... Its a fix etc. Also means Ali and Joe can sit back and watch for a few days the presure and abuse taking off them and show the notables how it has always been for them. :D

I am sure the notbales would not object to losing out few days just for the pleasure of picking the winners.

Hurrah for my idea and its many flaws! :D

How about a poster of the month competition?? It doesn't even have to have a prize, just the honour of being the best poster that month.

It would have to be someone who probably won GAD, wrote many interesting topics and we would vote for them.

Yeah, and you could highlight this hot topic by placing a tiny burning flame animation beside said topic like they do on the codejunkies forum!

In order to start an interesting debate perhaps you could just post a HOT TOPIC now and again in one of the FOG forums. But make it stand out by changing its colour or something.. this topic could be based on the latest news (i.e. get newsmonkey to write a topic) or based on the latest games or hardware release (In which case get whoever rights those reviews to start the topic).

Alternatively perhaps you could highlight a topic started by someone else, thus directing conversation to where its most interesting.

Hmmm. Not sure. Me go

No programming, eh? If there isn't any programming involved, then how the hell would they get the blooming thing on the site, huh? Answer me that, Grix.

i know its a bit drastic but the whole layout of the forums seems a bit boring or dull, so how about letting us choose our own font, and font colour out of a list provided by you.
This option could be in the page where we can change our profiles. Or if that is too drastic just try changing the colour sceme overall in the forums. This is just my opinion, and if others disagree with it, then i respect that, and you should just scrap this idea.
