OK, this is a bit of a spur of the moment post, so don’t expect it to be good.

The good:

• Absolutely fantabulistic graphics!
• Great handling
• Harder than before
• Not possible to buy a super-powerful car from the off
• More tracks
• 2001 cars
• Swish presentation
• Virtually no loading times
• Cool music
• Favorite music tracks playlist option
• Force feedback wheel available
• 6 players
• It’s Gran Turismo!
• It’s Gran Turismo!
• One more time: It’s Gran Turismo!

The bad:

• Can’t turn the music up
• New menu-like presentation isn’t as good as the last one
• Takes longer to navigate
• Not much of a sequel
• More bloody license tests!
• Not as many options

The missing:

• 300+ cars
• Second hand cars
• TVR Cerbera (allegedly). If I find that’s not there, someone will die.
• Polish
• The Corrs
• Damage (still, but I know why)
• High Speed Ring

Verdict: Very good, but shows signs of being rushed. Could have had a little more thought put into it.

For me it's GT2, I am just hoping that F1 2002 will be good

The PSone managed it, and the N64 has better texture handling functions.

thats becasue the N64 cant handle realistic graphics. it just couldnt be done. so the more arcade style approach has been done. GT is my personal fave driving sim of all time, but not my fave racer.

I'm a big Formula 1 fan but none of these games can compete with the classic racers like GT, will there ever be a F1 game that can beat the GT series? I thought that F1 2001 felt like it was missing something, dunno what?!

I have played a lot of 64 racers and there are not many good simulations. Loads of Nintyphiles have also said to me that they like arcade racers and that's why there's hardly any simulations.

Another appeal of GT is that they are REAL CARS with REAL HANDLING. It feels just like the real thing and it's great.
