None of the Gamecube 'classics' are actually all that great and Nintendo themselves haven't made a genuinely excellent game in years. All they churn out is this overcomplicated boring pretentious toss. Deep? Developing storylines? Pffft...you're the ones who constantly criticise others for valuing themes and graphics over gameplay... If anything, Nintendo are one of the worst for plastering their games with excess crap that disguises dull, repetitive and lacking gameplay.

Give me Streets of Rage any day.

Well if you want to play ten-year-old games simply because new ones have storylines, that's fine by me. I've got just as much enjoyment out of my Cube (hur hur) as I did my SNES, bar perhaps one hugely compulsive game like Killer Instinct o ttake up my time for it's entire life.

Most Nintendo games don't have storylines anyway, Mario Sunshine, Pikmin, Zelda, other than a breif reason to go nobbing around some farcical land there's very little storyline to be found. It doesn't make them any better for it, but they're still brilliant.

It's mostly second party ones like Eternal Darkness and Metroid Prime that focus on story, atmosphere and raw content. They're just as good, though, just in a different way.

Bah, now you've reminded me of Killer Instinct. I really want a new one.

I'm making this up as I'm going along. Don't expect me to understand what I'm saying.

OR

"Ooooh Nintendo games are so great and innovative and really meaningful and touching, when X happened to X in X game I almost felt like crying"
Yeah. Maybe it's the fans who are pretentious with their high and mighty attitudes to the wonderful deep, caring qualities of Nintendo, when it's obvious they are in no way better than any other games company.

I know there are few modern games that are as much fun as ones from the SNES/Megadrive era, even N64 and Playstation but the point is people seem to think Nintendo are some special company who are really different from the rest and offer something amazingly great in comparison but guess what - they don't.

And Viewtiful Joe is due for release on PS2 soon, I believe.

I don't think Nintendo games are crap and to be honest I don't really see where you're coming from Memo. I've played and enjoyed games like Zelda, Viewtiful Joe, Ikaruga and Harvest Moon. They're all GC exclusives and none of them are crap.

If I want a storyline I'll watch a film.
If I want to PLAY a game I'll PLAY a game that actually has GAMEPLAY.

Streets of Rage was good but just as repetitive as todays games after a while. I've played most of Ninty's title until I completed them, because they were enjoyable.

I don't really care how an enjoyable game is achieved, if it's down to storyline or ultra-punchy-action, just as long as it's just that, enjoyable.
